Mountain Lake Retreat - hot tub, lake, fire pit, wineries, restaurant

The property was clean and felt private. Having the beach access only 5 minutes walking distance from the house was perfect! Having a hot tub and fenced in yard that allowed dogs was also perfect. Instructions for everything were easy to access. We needed to talk to the owners and it was easy to contact them with no issues. Id recommend it! We went with 4 adults and a 12 year old.

The ONLY downfall, if it is at all, was the sounds of dirt bikes and four wheelers constantly riding up and down the roads. I don’t care but I feel good to let others know. So that’s my only “comment” about the place. I know the owners can’t control that.

We loved the trees around the house, there was always a shady place and a sunny place. The house is very comfortable, furnished with excellent taste. It is very clean and spacious, the kitchen is well equipped. The host is extremely kind and generous. She let our friends stay for the night without charging extra and provided us with extra linen and towels. We had a wonderful time, mostly hiking in the nearby nature reserves and in Shenandoah National Park. The kids loved the nearby beach. It was an ideal place for a family holiday.

The fact that we could not open the windows. It was mostly nice and and cool outside and we did not need the airco. During the day it got warm, but the house stayed cool. No humidity either. For European guests the fact that windows can't open is strange.

Love the location, love the living space of the house, the spacious yard, proximity to the lake and wineries, and the hot tub

It did not affect our stay but some of the doors need fixing.

The place was absolutely beautiful! I wish we had stayed a second night!

The heating was a little bit confusing.

The house was beautiful and full of character!
