Riverlea Cottage - cosy, comfy, quiet, central

location was central to town but area wasn't very nice, the double beds were comfortable, lovely paintings on the walls, good heating.

carpet looked like original carpet when house was built 1950's, so not clean enough to walk bare foot on. Very surface cleaned, The house smelt of fish for the 2 days. Single beds sank deeply. The shower filled immediately (thought host may not have known of this ). A disgusting toilet brush sat beside the toilet. Front door wasn't accessible. And you won't have wanted to hang around outside.

At first glance, the cottage looked adorable and the gardens were also beautiful.

I am unsure why the owner felt the need to show us how to use kitchen utilities. We are both highly qualified academics and thought this was ridiculous and there is a Dropbox could have used for the key. On day 2, I found him in the house, which I found really weird. He said it was in case we needed something. However,I had both his and his partners numbers if I needed something. Also, I notified his partner we were bringing our 2 year old granddaughter...when we arrived, he said he had no idea we were bringing in extras..like we were cheating them on the rental. We won't be returning or recommending. Also, the rooms need a really good vacuum...not just in the middle of the room .Around the skirting boards are filthy.
