Gr8 Hostel at The Mount

Gr8 did not really provide breakfast, but food was available for a light snacking. The location did not suit me perfectly, but may well have suited others better, and was not awful. Barry, the popular host, made it acceptable to me. He has a gift, the gab without the glib. He has a great grasp of how the peculiar history of Belfast might affect your present day. The dorm (6beds) was particularly large and airy, but this house wasn't built to be a hostel. The lockers were perfect.

The toilet situation could have been better, and the bunks were surprisingly noisy.

One bathroom could not to be enough if it's crowded

There was no one available at check in. I was told ( at 4 pm) by a guest to go away bc the manager was still sleeping. I left and came back at 6 pm with the same story. I found the room and went in and went to sleep. At 10:30 pm!!!! The manager beat on the door and said he had no information of me staying there despite me having emailed back and forth to include the access code to the front door!! I was up all night then and could not sleep. I left at 4 am!

Barry, the manager, was an amazing host. He was super hospitable and nice. Super proactive at figuring out how to help out.

The property is handled a bit haphazardly by the owners. So as long as you don't expect something too professional it's fine.

The staff, the comfort, the family-kind like home. It’s very clean and well-maintained People were friendly and nice. We had great conversations and chats.

The location, it was a long good walk from the city center. They need another bathroom at least 😅
