Sunset Cabins at The Oaks Woodland Retreat

The cabins are in a lovely location.The bed was extremely comfortable.It suited our needs.

The kettle was leaking (complained)The outside light did not work complained)The locking mechanism on the front door was dodgy(complained)

The woodstove was great once we got some firewood, bedding was clean and beds comfortable. A nice rural location and short drive to beach, Braunton and Barnstaple.

Difficulty communicating with manager (we had an issue with the access code, manager not available over the weekend, out of hours number took 48 hours to respond) Indifference of the manger towards the comfort of guests. Chalet was freezing cold when we arrived and stank of sewage (from the shower drain) although eventually disappeared. Two sticks of firewood to light stove (although the owner who lives nearby kindly took pity on us and brought us more), Major leak in kettle which made it almost unusable - we reported it and lots of soothing words about rectifying it but no action. Shower door was broken. Outside light broken. I will read the reviews next time before booking, as I found most of these faults were mentioned by previous guests!

Location was quiet. Right next to a field with 2 foals is. Exceptional! Would have walked from home to get there for that experience. You don't get THAT at a premier inn!

Door on the toilet was bloody stiff but sorted in the end. Could do with another, lower step into the garden for old scuffers like me.

It was just as expected. Basic but comfortable

Just a couple of things not working. Hob and kettle leaking would have liked some wood etc for woodburner as the stay was end November into December and cold

Was a beautiful quiet location. Really in the middle of nowhere

On your website you said there was wood provided "enough to get you started, & more in the woodshed" There was no wood.No woodshed.No lighter .No kindling. Nothing. If i'd known this I could have brought my own. As the log burner was the decisive factor in my choosing this cabin I was a little disappointed. It's mid November & pretty chilly. There was a small radiator, but this wasn't enough in the cold evenings.

A pretty place, nice accommodation shower was hit and miss but other than that seemed ok. Really beautiful area nice use of the space inside.

Reported the toilet lid of the seat broken upon arrival and was told maintenance would come and repair they did not.. I thought it would be remote and I'd be on my own but 2 other pods were there side by side so not as peaceful as I thought but still noise levels were fine.
