Cosy Lodge on Farm with Donkeys Parking

It was plenty big enough for four. 2 bathrooms is a bonus. Beds were very very comfortable. It was in a great location close to Chester and it was private.

The property wasn’t clean enough. The dining table and lounge table were full of smears. The mirrors in the lounge weren’t clean. The fridge hadn’t been wiped clean and there is just behind the bathroom doors, on the picture frames and on the radiator in the second bedroom. The white doors need a wipe down too. Faulty blinds too. All this being said we would stay again because overall it was enjoyable.

Lodge isn’t private directly next to a farm house. Grass on floor in lounge and TV not working. Owners loudly banging on the lounge window at 10:15pm. We assume because we had the TV on too loud. It was on 30 out of 60 volume. If owners thought it was too loud they could have knocked on the door and asked us to turn the TV down. We would have obliged. We felt very unwelcome from that moment on and left first thing the next morning. Stayed one of our booked two nights. Plus TV wasn’t working, tried mobile on booking website, no answer plus full voicemail. Tried two further numbers for agents, no answer from both. I eventually got the TV working. I have requested a refund and the agent has refused. Terribly sad that booking.com has this accommodation on their website. I would never stay there again and if anyone does you will not be able to have the TV on after 10pm (That’s if you manage to get the TV working) I will continue to request a refund. Hopefully they will realise it is wrong not to refund

Brilliant location for Central Chester Chester Zoo etc.

The property was very spacious and impeccably clean and tidy. We had everything we needed. The beds were comfy, the second room is pitch black at night, which I loved. The bathroom and onsuite were very nice, very clean. It was lovely to be able to sit on the veranda with a glass of wine and some nibbles when we first came back from Chester. Chester is a delightful place to visit and if you love history you’re in for a treat. I thoroughly recommend the Cathedral and two interactive and very interesting museums, one called ‘Sick to Death’ and the other was the Roman Diva Museum, suitable and very entertaining for adults and children. The buildings in Chester are and eclectic mix of modern and very old Tudor buildings. Will definitely return!

The thermostat was set to 12 degrees and the main living/dining room was very chilly in the evenings. There was a fire place with a fire that just blew out hot air, which was great to take the chill off but it dried the air out and not great for my Mum who had a cold… We found there was no bread knife and the sieve could’ve been bigger, but apart from that, we had everything we needed. We didn’t however see the owner of the property or the couple who look after the property, all weekend, however I was able to phone and text them. It would’ve just been nice to meet them. We only saw the girls mucking out the donkey shed.

If you like to enjoy countryside, this place is amazing. Definitely will return here.

The hosts kindly left us some gifts when we arrived, lovely touch. We loved the resident donkeys and horses☺️ accommodation was great, it included everything we needed and was good value for money. Would definitely stay again:)

Recycling facilities would have been good.
