Worlds Apart - River Front Guest Farm & Camping

The resort itself is in a beautiful area.

Check-in is messy, with zero communication from the property. On arrival, the host/staff member had no idea who we were or where we were staying. He kept wanting to put us in the four-bedroom unit and I had to explain to him about four times that we booked the two-bedroom unit. He still showed us to the four-bedroom unit. Communication remained a big issue throughout the stay, as there is no welcome booklet or instructions. We only found out when we read the other reviews that the water on the premises is not drinkable so you SHOULD HAVE brought your own drinking water. There is no WiFi and very poor signal - keep that in mind for emergencies or when trying to get hold of the host. Additionally, the gate is closed at night and you are not told whether you need a code to get back in or how re-entry would work. We only found this out when we came back from dinner. They then asked us to open and close the gate by hand, which has electrified fencing running right by where you need to hold onto the gate. This was not my only health and safety concern. There were multiple. Within five minutes of parking our car, there were three vagrants hanging around our car and looking in - our car was the only thing in the whole field, so this was very suspicious. One of the bedroom windows that opens to that exact field does not lock - see photos attached of how far the window could be opened by a burglar just by pulling the window up. The house is also dirty, with spider webs everywhere - even behind the headboards where you sleep. The kitchen is also poorly stocked, not even having salt, oil, or other basics. The farm is “pet friendly” but doesn’t mention that there is a ridgeback on the farm, which aggressively charged our border collie when we arrived after supper. We don’t know what would’ve happened if our collie hadn’t bolted.

The views were great and the decor very pretty. Staff replied quickly when needed

The only real downside was the mold stains in the tents. Along with the bathrooms and other amenities was full of cobwebs.

The view and location is amazing. This is really a hidden gem. It feels like glamping, but more glam than camp.

What is not to like.

The setting of the property is beautiful, mountain all around. At the river there is comfortable seating with a beautiful view. At the swimming pool ample seating/lounge areas. The staff that greeted at the gate was very friendly. Secluded from town, would be a great venue for a birthday celebrations of function.

Both our room and ablution did not have warm water to take a shower. I would suggest placing a card/info letter in the room regarding check-in and check out times, WIFI code, emergency numbers , extra fire wood cost etc. It seems that if you made use of a tap or the toilet there was a unpleasant smell , not sure if it is related but not enjoyable if you relax outside.

Rusting, nice pool and outside area.

They need a generator, no power and no water during part of the stay.
