Yagappa Heritage Resort - Near Lake & Bus Stand

Pros - 1. It's very close to Coaker's walk (and about 550m walk from bus stand). They don't server lunch/ dinner but there are many restaurants near kodaikanal bus stand. It's located in the heart of Kodaikanal. 2. We took standard rooms (the lowest grade one) and got room numbers 106 and 107. In some of the reviews, I read that wifi is not properly available outside the reception area (ground floor) . That is not true. Yagappa has a seperate wifi system for floor 1 (where room 106 and 107 was) which has the same password as ground floor wifi. 3. Hot water is available 24/7. 4. There is an RO water dispenser as well. 5. The bathroom is big and decent. We didn't turn on the TV, and hence can't comment on it. 6. Breakfast was decent but options were very limited. Can't complain though, as it's a 2 star hotel. We stayed for 2 nights (3 days). On Sunday, we were given Kesari Bath, Idli, Vada, Sambar, Chutney, Plain Dosa, White bread (wasn't toasted), jam, butter and tea/coffee. On Monday, we were given Idli, Poori, Aloo Sabji, Sambar, Chutney, White Bread (again, not toasted), jam butter and tea/coffee. 7. There is a place for bonfire and a small children's park as well. The park has a see-saw, slide and 2 other rides the names of which i dont know 😅. But it was fun. There is a big Avocado tree beside the bonfire ( we even plucked one, but kindly confirm once with the authorities before doing so)

Cons - 1. In the name of toileteries, we only got 2 soaps and 2 towels. We had brought our own toothbrush and toothpaste, so wasn't an issue. 2. There wasnt any drinking water available in the room. You either need to call reception, or go down and fill up your own bottle using the RO dispenser. 3. The landline in both the rooms probably didnt work (not sure though, i tried once and felt like the line was dead). Fortunately, the reception was only a flight of stairs down, so didn't face much issues. 4. If you need room service, you need to let the reception know, else they won't send any personnel to clean your room in your absence. 5. Even though it's close to Coaker's walk (around 200m), the hotel is situated down a steep slope making it difficult to traverse by foot, for my parents ( both around 50). 6. On busy days ( weekends and peak season time), it becomes hard to checkin before 9 am. Their checkout time is 10 am, and they need 1 hour to clean the room, making the standard checkin time as 11 am. You need to call them/ mail them in advance if you want to checkin before that, however, chances of getting a room will be slim. 8. Standard rooms (the lowest tier of rooms) cost around 3000/- per day which is quite expensive for a 2 star hotel. 9. The gates get closed by 10 pm. If you are late you need to call the management and have the gate opened. 10. Lastly, booking.com doesn't include gst in their bill. So we had to give around 1.5k extra. Despite so many cons, I will be giving it an 8/10. The stay was comfortable and i wouldn't mine staying here again. I hope this detailed and unbiased review will help you in determining whether to go with Yagappa or not 😄

staff service is courteous and helpful

The hotel is well situated, being close to shopping, transport, and the tourist sites. We would definitely stay there again. Lovely hotel and staff.
