A45 - Oliveira Historic Apartment

The apartment is located in a very nice spot and it is enough space for 2 people. The provided breakfast was delivered on time and was of average quality. In contrast to other reviews we did not experience any troubles with the check in.

The appartment was far from clean at arrival, some kitchen utensils had residue on them. There was a weird smell throughout the entire appartment. We only got 1 towel per person even though we stayed 4 nights. The shower head was very bad and the water did not get drained properly, so we had to turn the water off three times per shower or it would have flooded. It was only possible to sit on the toilet sideways and the 2 rolls of toilet paper provided were of very poor quality. The bed was very uncomfortable and had a significant dent in the middle. The isolation with the houses next door was poor so we could hear many noises. The lock on the front door was barely functional and failed to close and open properly over half the time. One fan in the living room did not work. We were asked to remove the trash or else pay a fine, but there was nowhere to put the trashbags.

To get the keys to the apartment, you need to to go to an office in town. It’s really crowded since they only do check in between 16.00 and 19.00. So expect a long line of people waiting since they have many apartments throughout the city. So you’re there, waiting outside in the heat since there is no room to wait inside. After we got got our keys, we head to the apartment which is 10 minutes away. Fully packed, this was a real inconvenience since it’s hot outside, and the city really crowded. If we knew this from the start, we would not have booked the apartment in the first place. So upon arrival at 16.30 the cleaner was still busy cleaning the apartment until 17.30. So we were stuck in between because we couldn’t take a shower after going to the beach to hit the town. This was also a really uncomfortable situation since she did not speak English and we were constantly in her way. After contacting the staff, they blamed it on the former renter but never apologised or gave a solution. She advised me to enjoy the pool, which we don’t have with our stay.. made it all the more frustrating. She left without ever saying anything so we were not sure if she would come back. We doubted because she left the cleaning stuff in the corner of the room which reeks really badly. So, she did leave and we just have to make do with the terrible smell I guess. If you’d wondered, this smell is on top of the other horrible sewer smell that’s already present. The apartment was terribly hot without AC. The toilet is so close to the wall and the bathroom cabinet that no normal sized human can sit on it properly. The shower is overflowing. The furniture has a lot of stains on them, attributes like mirrors and rags are all damaged, bend or loose and not working properly. The walls are damaged everywhere. And the lights are so bright here you might want to put on sunscreen upon entrance. Please look further, there are way better and cheaper options.
