Turbine Hotel & Spa

Quirky former power station turned hotel on Thesen Islands in Knysna. Great place to stay while on our Garden Route road trip. One night was not enough. The rooms, the overall design and original features kept from its former life were great.

Very little bottle of water for free. No slippers. It’s not normal for 5stars hotel.

Lage, Sauberkeit, Freundlichkeit des Personals. Das Essen war außergewöhnlich gut! Alles war sehr sauber.

The location, ambience, food, amenities and professional friendly staff made for a wonderful experience.

Nothing - Could not fault it.

We were treated to a delightful stay at the Turbine during our honeymoon in SA. Everything was clean and comfortable in our room, with the wider hotel space a real fascination for historians! The food was utterly incredible and the massage we had was one of the best - they even treated us to a honeymoon surprise, very sweet.

Breakfast service was a little slow both mornings but as soon as I said we need to be somewhere, everything sped up very quickly.

Das Hotel ist architektonisch einfach klasse. Das Zimmer war sehr komfortabel, das Essen im Restaurant sehr lecker und die Massagen im SPA hervorragend. Die Lage und Parkmöglichkeiten gefielen uns sehr gut. Abendliche Spaziergänge im Viertel waren unser Highlight. A special thank you to Lydia from the SPA team!! Tipp für Golfer: neben dem Hotel ist ein super Golfshop!! Besonderem Dank gilt dem sehr freundlichen uns sympathischen Personal!! Unser Aufenthalt wurde damit sehr angenehm und persönlich :-)

Leider sorgten die Entlüftungen im Badezimmerbereich für einen starken Sog, so dass die durchziehende Luft vom Flur unangenehme Pfeifgeräusche verursachte. Das Hausmeisterteam konnte dies leider nicht verändern. Deshalb ließen wir das Fenster nachts so weit geöffnet, dass dieser Unterdruck nicht mehr entstehen konnte. Für so ein Hotel darf so etwas nicht sein. Das Frühstück hatte nur eine bestimmte Auswahl, die unseren Geschmack leider nicht traf. Da alles a la carte war, waren die Wartezeiten ungewöhnlich lang. Wer Termine einhalten will, sollte sich 10 bis 15 min. mehr Zeit nehmen.

The hotel was right in the hub of things. The pool was a great addition and had a great view of the canal way. The view from our balcony was lovely with the heads in the distance. The staff were amazing, on finding out it was my birthday they laid on a treat which was left in my room. Very touching and thoughtful. They also helped with activities and advice on lots of things when needed.

That we couldn't stay longer but we'll just have to come back.
