No 9 The Hill Cromford Nr Matlock Bath

It's absolutely gorgeous. The hosts have thought of so many welcoming details and their communications were helpful and friendly. It's in a great location and has all cool appliances. Loved all the staff at the pub, the store and bookshop and the ducks we fed daily at the pond across the way. This is a wonderful countryside experience with modern conveniences.

Unfortunately there's a strong garlic smell that was unbearable for myself and my five year old so we couldn't use the downstairs area. My son would only enter through the back garden and I couldn't invite family inside, which was the reason we were visiting. The owners kindly had it checked and they couldn't smell anything. They said it's possibly off gassing of the sofas. For me it's worth a mention but as no other reviews mentioned it, it may just be us so I've not adjusted the ratings. It's possibly you won't smell it either, hope not.

Location was great. Lots of food options really close and it was pretty central for going out and about. The house was small but beautifully decorated and had everything you would need. The garden was a little sun trap too!

The road outside is noisy but not unbearably so. Finding the keys was a bit of a struggle, perhaps a few more instructions in the pre arrival information.

Smallish, but comfortable one bathroom and another toilet, we mistakenly thought two bathrooms though.

Just on the road and parking was a huge issue

Located well for cromford. Little courtyard at the back is lovely in the sunshine. Cottage clean and bed comfy.

Parking was difficult. It’s on street parking but very much a lottery so we ended up having to move the car a few times which wasn’t ideal as the only parking available had time restrictions.

Ideal location for the peak district. Had everything we needed and more, would definitely recommend!

Overall it was quite spacious. Very nice bedroom and ‘parents retreat’ on the second floor. Well equipped kitchen. Good location from which to explore the local area.

Property was located on a busy road which made it quite noisy. There was a funny musty/garlicky smell in the downstairs lounge area. Car parking was pretty difficult - spaces close to the property were taken up by vans associated with renovation work being done on the property next door.

The cottage was very quaint which I loved. Very clean with lovely white bedding and good quality white towels. Everything we needed for our stay,we couldn't fault anything.

The property was very clean and homely. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need for everyday essentials for a short stay. Complimentary wine and chocs were left which was a really sweet. Folder with all instructions/ manuals were left and information of the local area/ places to visit. The property is in a central location to all the sites to visit in a lovely village.

In a busy road and parking was a little tricky in the evening if you are not back early.

Clean cozy and fully equipped. It’s a gorgeous property. Easy access to the local area. Easy parking on street. A break we really needed. Would like to visit in winter and get the fire going. Hosts were super helpful from booking to end. Will come back again I hope. Lovely little art gallery right outside the back door. Everything in the house is sourced locally which was a lovely touch.

If you are tall then remember to duck! It’s on the main road so don’t expect silence but that can’t be helped you get used to it and they provide ear plugs!! Nothing to dislike, just pointers before booking so you know what to expect but the property and location is worth the ducking.
