Great location, friendly staff, nice clean rooms

A friendly and welcoming staff. Our room was enormous and, although characterful with lots of beams, it was spotless - not a spider's web to be seen. Our room faced the road, but once the windows were fully closed there was little noise and then as night fell the traffic decresased totally so we had a very quiet stay. We ate in the restaurant although we had the option of eating in the bar area. The menu was varied and the food tasty. For a pub stay it surpassed our expectations and was real value for money.

I'm born and bred in Tutbury and like to come back and stay in the Dog and Partridge for family memories.

Unfortunately it needs some TLC in the rooms and public areas. The mattresses and pillows are very hard which doesn't make for a good nights sleep. This time I was really disappointed in the breakfast I myself am a breakfast chef and it just wasn't up to the standard I would expect. The pastries didn't look appetising, They would be better with smaller plates for the size of the breakfast. They also need to try and make sure all items on the breakfast are hot not just lukewarm. There was no consistency on how the breakfasts were presented. Even though ive had a bad experience this time it won't stop me staying again.
