Song of the Sea, Selkie House

Lorna was a lovely host. Very friendly and welcoming. Parking was easy and walks for our dog. Breakfast had a lot of choice and Lorna offered plenty to suit all diets.

Lovely quaint little BnB ion helmsdale harbour great host who couldn't do enough to make our stay more comfortable, amazing breakfast

The property was facing the harbour. There was literally NOTHING about the property or the host or the location other than the harbour to like!

When we arrived at the property, we were ordered to wait by the host as she was too busy assembling some flat pack furniture to attend to us. When we entered the property, the porch area was so dirty and the window sills were covered in dust and cobwebs, Our room had stained towels and dirty bedding. The bed head and glass decanter in the room are example photos taken to prove how dusty the room was, The shared bathroom again was very dirty and untidy and the window sill had dirt and ring marks from items that had previously been there and not moved. The shower again was dirty with lots of half used and open bottles of product. The common passage ways in the house were very dirty and cluttered and lots of items such as old coats, mops and a printer were scattered around. My partner is Autistic, and amongst all the items that were under the stairs was a black doll which due to my partners disability she found triggering. I was apologetic to the host and asked her if she would mind moving it to another location for the duration of our stay, and showed her my parters disability ID badge to support my request and I didn’t want her to feel awkward. It is fair to say that she did move the item, but when I explained my partner was Autistic, she laughed and called her a “silly girl”. The kitchen which we were allowed to use was again fifthy and cluttered with no available clean area to prepare food.

Easy to find. Parking outside the door. Ground floor accommodation. Great breakfast and the host was lovely.

Lovely room, fab location and a friendly host. breakfast was very good.

Lorna was an excellent host. Shared the local knowledge with us and we visited some of the places recommended. We had a shared bathroom with one other couple but it wasn’t a problem.
