Comfortable 1BR home with Maltese Balcony in Valletta By 360 Estates

The apartment is nicer than pictured. Spacious, good lighting. Comfortable.

Weak water pressure. Sofa just okay.

Located in a very quiet area near St Elmo's Fort. Taxi from the airport (€19 set charge - pay at the desk in the airport) but the bus from the airport is €2 to Valetta Bus station - approx 10 minutes walk up Republic St to the apartment. I had to contact 360 Estates the evening before we left to ask for the key box code which should have been emailed earlier in the day. We didn’t need to contact them for anything else during the 9 day stay – everything was fine (the door of the apartment was difficult to open but we were never actually locked out). The apartment was clean & had everything we needed; including microwave oven, kettle and washing machine. We did not cook but most utensils were available. Bedroom had 2 wardrobes, large chest of drawers & sofa. Decent sized bed, with a hard mattress. The bathroom was very large with 2 shower heads, one at each side of the walk in shower area! 2 steps up from wash basin to shower. Towels were provided, including 2 beach towels! The area was quiet at night but quite a steep street up into the city. The electricity is modern British 3 pin sockets, lefthand drive, people speak English, & use Euro (just like Ireland but with sunshine). Some nice tiny bars nearby: Blackfriars Pub and Gugar but with variable opening hours. Very close to the Malta Experience & easy walking distance to everywhere in the city. There are a couple of small shops about a minute walk away either side which sell water (the tap water is desalinated water). the main shop in the centre of the city is Spar on Republic St near St John’s Co-Cathedral. [Skip Cathedral queues by buying your tickets online]. We bought a Tallinja card (€19 for 12 journeys) for the bus & went everywhere by public transport from Valetta bus station: Marsaxlott, Mdina, Mosta, Gozo, Comino, Ghadira Bay, Paola. A local walk: down the side street at Sally Port pizzeria, under the bridge, turn right onto the quay & round the base of St Elmo's Fort.

The mattress was very hard and the steps up to the apartment are steep, narrow and winding- typical of an old renovated building. The TV set is not connected so is only useful to attach to laptop but the WiFi was good. There are no restaurants in the immediate locality but equally there is no late night noise.

Good location and a view. Good facilities for a medium length stay.

Only down side was steep stairs to access the apartment.

The location is very good, at the end of the main street, but without the crowds below. Through the balcony there is a view of one of the emblems of Valletta in perspective, and not of the wall across the street. The bedroom is separate and its window overlooks the inner courtyard, which limits the noise. The bathroom is spacious.

Be careful with Google's navigation to the accommodation, it sends you to another place. The host doesn't make it easier for you either, because he sends a broken link with instructions. The apartment is on the second floor, which is reached by stairs, narrow like in the nearby catacombs. If you are carrying a corpse or suitcases like me, it is unpleasant. The non-working coffee maker was reported months ago. The TV is "smart", but extremely slow, which makes it unusable without normal TV programs.

appartement konden we eerst niet vinden: Het appartement is echt helemaal op het einde van de hoofdstraat (mainstreet) die door het midden gaat.
