"Central town house so close to everything"

9.0

A brilliant central location for meals out and looking round Alnwick. Plenty of space for the family. Lovely quirky decor.

Shower thermostat wasn’t working in upstairs bathroom but best way to use is turn off and on every 3-4 mins.

We've just returned home from a wonderful break in Alnwick at this beautiful property. Communication with Amanda prior to arrival was good and very friendly. The house was spotless on arrival. Beds were so comfortable and lots of lovely big fluffy towels and everything else that you could need for a home from home stay. The location is perfect; a stroll to lots of lovely restaurants, bars and cafes, yet in a quiet area off the market square. There are two free car parks close by - we parked outside the property to unload/load our luggage and then parked in the car park - a five minute stroll away. The property is lovely and warm with plenty of hot water.

A couple of things to highlight for larger groups: There was only two of us in our party, so we had no issues with wardrobe space, but it's worth noting that there is only one wardrobe between four bedrooms (with 6 hangers in total), so this could be a problem if there is a full house. A hanging rail with hangers in each room could easily resolve this. As this is a four storey townhouse, there are obviously lots of stairs, with only one bathroom serving three floors of bedrooms. There is a further bathroom located next to the living/dining room in the basement. We had an amazing time here and would definitely recommend.

"Great value but could be so much better"

7.0

Central location Well equipped kitchen Nice bathroom Nice linen & towels Nicely decorated Responsive friendly host Good value

Poor layout. Needs a proper lounge for people to sit! We were all crammed in a tiny, dark basement. Make the basement into an en-suite bedroom and make the large 1st floor bedroom into a large, beautiful, light, lovely sitting room. Get rid of the breakfast bar and put the table in the kitchen. This would work so much better. Showers were scalding - something definitely wrong with the thermostat or controls as couldn’t turn them to a colder setting. Smaller bedroom on the 1st floor needs a shelf by the bed with a bedside light on it. It was horrible having to read with the main light on and then having to get up to turn it off. Some hooks with a few hangers would be good - I couldn’t hang a single thing up in that room.

The apartment was exceptionally clean and the rooms were really comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed with plenty of space and a great breakfast bar. Our host Amanda was very helpful and sorted any problems quickly and efficiently. The apartment is in the heart of Alnwick with all the amenities close by, even the bus station was a short walk away. A great stay for our walking group Carol and the Derbyshire Walkers

Location was excellent and the flexibility of rooms and beds was really good for a three generation visit.

The property didn't provide a few simple things to help people less able eg. Slippery shower floor, no handles or mats to help. There were also very steep stairs and a lack of furniture, both in bedrooms to store clothes and in the ground floor seating area. Finally, the white curtains in all the bedrooms didn't block out the light effectively, at night (security light opposite) or in the morning. These things are mainly easy to resolve.
