The Salty Monk Bed & Breakfast

Excellent stay, lovely room, dog friendly, excellent location as we wanted to "walk the byes", a brilliant river walk right into the heart of Sidmouth town and beach area. Lovely hosts, very comfortable room and excellent breakfast.

maybe have binds or similar on the windows as rooms can be walked past or viewed into.

Beautiful room, comfy beds, lovely decor & great dog friendly touches. We stayed on a Saturday night in August. The Salty Monk is in a great location, lovely walk into Sidmouth which again is very dog friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was delicious as were the cheese, biscuits & wine we had Saturday night!

Fantastic 5 star dinner (a little pricey but worth it if celebrating something special) Great breakfast, lots of choice. The room (Rose) was superb. Spotlessly clean; good size tv offering Netflix. Comfortable bed.

The light sensor in the bathroom was just way too overactive to movement at night. The slightest movement in bed caused the sensor to click (audibly) which then triggered the light to come on in the bathroom which was bright enough to wake us up. We hardly slept as a result and unfortunately the lower score is reflected by this especially as this issue has been raised previously by another customer.

Comfortable bed

Room was not as advertised. No shower,no luxury bathrobes,windows couldn't be opened as they were overlooked by owners garden. Old dog chew in drawer causing an odour. Owner did not acknowledge any issues. Hotel not boutique ,overpriced and tired.cobwebs. Did not warrant price paid.

Breakfast good and food allergy catered for. I was pleasantly surprised by the whirlpool bath, very welcome.

The local Bus service not always reliable. There seems to be at least two bus service numbers though to Sidmouth but can be along wait half an hour and more in one instance. If one has just gone. no buses late on Sunday.no Taxis free on the very busy weekend I was there. There is a wooded pathway of 1/12 miles to walk down to the Ham. Unlit at night.

Delightful stay at Salty Monk , Accommodation, Breakfast and location is superb. The cycle path to Sidmouth next to the property was perfect for us . Will definitely return.

Only one little suggestion is the awkward silence in the dining room, would be nice to hear a radio at breakfast.
