The place itself is pretty, filled with light, comfortable and super centrally located. What that means in Bologna is that it's in a kind of 'rough looking' but not rough urban area. Our cabbie said it was not a good area. We grew up in Philly, dude. It's fiiiine. Not pretty street, but super good access to train and to downtown. The guy who worked at the cafe (and all the cafe staff) were simply superb. Kind, helpful, welcoming. Food was good- choice of pastries (not the best, but fine) and panini type things for heartier eaters. They made us soy lattes every morning; perfect. The balcony doesn't have a view, which I gathered, but you cannot sit on it on a hot day/night. The AC external blower is literally a foot away and you are blasted with hot air. It doesn't click off right away, so don't expect to sit there and enjoy a cool breeze while your place stays a bit cool for sleeping. Shower is small, but new and pretty and light. Shampoo and body soap were mid-range and not too perfume-y. Would be nice to have any info about the city- a map, highlights, resto ideas, in the unit. Would prefer an actual coffee/espresso maker and not a wasteful Nespresso thing (Italy, hello?!)

The mattress had an ungodly hot solid plastic sheet mattress pad. I felt literally like I was being cooked alive. For anyone who runs even the tiniest bit hot, this will fricassee you. I suppose you could take it off the bed. Someone before us turned on the temp disply on the A/C and it blares crazy bright. Didn't occur to me until night 3 to see if there is a way to turn that light off on the remote. There is. sigh.

The breakfast and it's ambience could not be beat! Every day I was welcomed in the Cafe next door by staff who made me feel like part of the family! Especially wonderful for a solo traveler! Decor and spaciousness were perfect! While at first, I felt it was located just on the periphery of the city centre, I came to appreciate the simple access to the train station and the centre. Daily freshening up was also a treat. Olga was a helpful host and most accommodating when I encountered complications due to a train strike.

The hosts were great, going above and beyond. The space is clean and the small balcony is nice to have. Close to the station and a short walk to town.

Conveniently located near the train station, excellent breakfast at the bar every morning to get the day started, helpful and responsive host, and having the chance to feel like a local while in the wonderful city of Bologna.
