Casa Ik en Coba

Nice room with views on the lake, clean and spacious. A lot of credit to the host Fabian, who is not only very kind and helpful, but also very knowledgeable about the Cobá ruins. He told us a lot of information regarding the history of the old Maya city and its roads. Definitely recommend!

Only point of critique was that the night was a little hot as the air of the fan was blocked by the mosquito net.

Amazing place, very nice host, a unique experience

Great location - right on the lake. You hear all the beautiful jungle noises and see a stunning visa morning and evening. The hosts are amazing. So generous and kind. We ended up with homemade food for a snack because his neighbor was cooking. It feels truly authentic in a way that many places in Mexico don’t anymore. We got up early to enter the archeological site, so we can’t comment on breakfast, I’m sure it would have been delicious. I enjoyed the hammock and chairs to sit outside and enjoy the lake view. It’s an easy stroll to the other side of the lake with restaurants and the Coba site.

The bed is definitely made for back sleepers. I’m a side sleeper so I found it firm. There is a street light outside, so I would recommend bringing a sleeping mask as the curtains don’t block the light very effectively.

This place is absolutely amazing! Its location is perfect, offering a serene and peaceful environment ideal for recharging your batteries. Surrounded by nature, with stunning views over the lake, it’s a true retreat. Casa Ik is within walking distance of the ruins and a charming Mayan village, making it a convenient and enriching base for exploring the area. Fabian and Ileana are exceptional hosts—friendly, generous, and incredibly knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. The room was clean, comfortable, and full of character, perfectly complementing the natural surroundings. The WiFi worked flawlessly, we had plenty of hot water, and the breakfast was delicious and satisfying. We highly recommend this wonderful place and can’t wait to return!
