CNUSWe stayed at Hawai’i Magic Skies Farmstay for four nights on the Big Island. This B&B is well located for many activities the island offers: within 7 miles north of Hilo, about 45 minutes from Hawai’i Volcanies National Park, 30 minutes south of ‘Akaka Falls, 55 minutes south of the Waipio Valley, and 2.5 hours from Kailua-Kona. The beach at Hilo has good swimming, and a small beach for good surfing is at the next stream south of the stay, too. The owners and the in-residence manager Josh have made sure to provide everything for your comfort *without* the obsequious personality you feel at many other B&Bs. The kitchen is well appointed for cooking; a laundry room, community den, and game room are on each floor, too. Magic Skies is a working farm. A small herd of gentle cattle, a dozen bleating goats, a large coop of clucking domestic chickens, a few domestic pigs, two dogs and two cats complement the orchard of avocado, guava, banana, papaya, and coconut. The orchard provides fresh fruit piled high at a kitchen counter. The coop provides fresh eggs for omelets you prepare Breakfast and other meals can be prepared for you on request the day before. Our suite overlooking the barnyard was large and comfortable for us three. Two other suites on the floor were a bit smaller and suitable for couples or singles. The lower floor was similar in rooms and amenities. Parking was ample for six rooms of guests, and access was superbly free, up to your own schedule. Quiet hours from 10 p.m. are necessary, as sometimes conversation in other rooms seeps through to yours. (A neighbor’s rancorous phone calls with her ex and then with her attorney gave us perhaps too much information!) The entry to the home is particularly notable. A large lounging area is sheltered by a recreated banyan tree in colored concrete or other workable material. You walk then a glass bridge over a pond of koi before entering the lower communal area.

USThe view is fantastic. We enjoyed every second here. We watched sunrise. My kid enjoyed farm time. Staff is really friendly. Besides, the house itself has lots of features. Everything is great!
