Silver Stone Suite - in the heart of Aberdeen

Location was excellent, apartment was good.

When we arrived in Aberdeen we had not heard from the host on how we could check in. We were supposed to check in at 3 and still had not heard anything. We waited outside the building and sent multiple messages and tried calling before the host finally picked up. We were told that the cleaners were running late and we realised they had actually passed us as we were waiting. We were told they would only be half an hour which didn’t seem like a long time for a decent clean. When we first entered the apartment it looked okay, however as time went on we realised that the place wasn’t that clean, sheets had stains on them, what looked like blood on the bathroom walls near the sink and stains on the blanket and pillows on the sofa. A couple of hours into our stay we realised we had only been left with half a roll of toilet paper for our 3 night stay and had to purchase our own. I did message the host to let them know but I received no reply. On the first night a neighbour was playing loud music for a couple of hours and we could hear commotion from outside as well so the place could benefit from double glazing. If you’re looking for something that is passable for your stay then this is the place.

Overall bad experience and would not recommend staying here. Good first impressions as were arrived but then discovered that the shower pressure is dreadful and we could only get it to be freezing or scolding hot. There were crusty stains on the footstool blanket in the living room. When we went to bed we discovered a foul smell only to find that the sheets were stained with sick. After changing the bed sheets to the ones from the couch bed, the smell remained as it had seeped into the mattress and pillows. To make things worse the bedroom window wouldn’t fully close so we had access to all of the noise of the bars and pubs from the street below. Whilst the location is clear upon booking and isn’t the hosts fault it was the lack of communication that made things even worse. I messaged the host kindly asking if we could get a partial refund for the remainder of the stay, so we could move to a different hotel, preferably one that was clean and well kept, and not ridden with previous guests sick. I offered not to post a bad complaint and leave it at that as I respect the fact that the host themselves may not have been responsible for the lack of cleanliness. However their response was that he/she is surprised by the fact that we had a complaint due to there having never been issues with this before, the terms ‘enhanced clean’ were used. I found this funny because as I scrolled down the reviews there are multiple complaints that people have left regarding similar issues. The host did mention that there may be a possibility off a new set of sheets the next day and a plumber to check out the shower but this wasn’t enough, by this point we needed somewhere else to stay, after spending the night inhaling the smell of sick. In response to his/her generous offer to change our sheets, we responded the same, asking to receive a partial refund for the inconvenience and that we wouldn’t post a review, but from that point we heard nothing, complete silence.

Neighbour downstairs needs reported made our holiday hell the noise was absolutely atrocious banging doors and rattling pipes and shouting stomping feet when walking all day long had to come home after the 2nd day was supposed to be here for 6 days won't be back here again and after reading guest book it has happened before in this apartment complaining about the neighbours and cooker hob not working just the oven

Beautifully decorated, comfy bed and sofa bed

The shower was low pressure and not good The shared hallway was quite municipal and really smelt of weed which wasn't brill as I had kids with me

Noisy neighbours banging doors and running around till early hours of the morning, noise from the street even thou we were on the 3rd floor, Partners coat got white paint on it of the stairwell, no wet paint signs to be seen ..
