The hotel was clean (*see below), and was free from stains and smells, there were no leaks or annoyances, and almost everything worked. The air-conditioner functioned very well, and there was a good water dispenser (hot and cold) on the first floor. The room was quite large. It is an attractive old building, and the facilities and the decorations generally meet the 3-star standard and price. On the opposite corner is an Indian restaurant (the Madras Café) which also served us well. The location is great for sightseeing in the old city centre.

There was not enough toilet paper when we arrived, the bathroom soap was tablets, not liquid soap, and there was no shampoo. We had expected tea and coffee; we asked for and were given a kettle, but the water dispenser was fine. We couldn't get the TV to work. *There were a few hairs on the floor. We think the hotel was probably short-staffed. But for the foregoing points, our review score would have been 9.5 or 10. There was early morning traffic noise. But this is not the hotel's fault, as it is very central. If you want quiet nights, move out to quieter areas; if you want to be within easy walking distance of the main tourist attractions, this hotel is good.

The place is clean and close to the city center/heart of Melaka. A place with good value for money.

Some rooms do not have windows. The AC works but is not turned on by default. Turning it on can be challenging for some rooms. The noise insulation is a bit weak. You will be awaken in the morning by your neighbours' door slamming.
