James et Dalilette sont des hôtes exceptionnels, aux petits soins, très gentils, très accueillants. La cuisine de James est un régal. Je recommande de tout cœur ce logement, au calme, et à quelques minutes d'un arrêt de bus.

A Warm Welcome and Culinary Bliss at La Belle du Sud, Rodrigues Island Our stay at La Belle du Sud was nothing short of extraordinary. From the warm hospitality to the delicious, home-cooked meals, everything about our 10-day visit exceeded our expectations. James and Dalilette, the hosts, were incredibly welcoming and generous. Dalilette, an active and energetic lady, often went fishing herself and occasionally brought in fresh octopus, which became the highlight of our evening meals. Every night, we were treated to a different, freshly prepared dish, always enough to feed four—no wonder we gained a good five kilos by the end of our stay! Breakfasts were equally delightful, with an ample spread that included fresh juices and a variety of items to start the day on the right note. The property itself felt like a small, serene farm, with cattle, pigs (slaughtered once a year), hens, and even dogs. The dogs, just like the people of Rodrigues, were remarkably calm and didn’t bark—a reflection of the island’s tranquillity. The spacious accommodation offered two bedrooms and two bathrooms, providing more than enough room for us, making it fantastic value for money. In terms of location, La Belle du Sud is close to one of Rodrigues’ prime surfing lagoons, making it a perfect spot for water sports enthusiasts. Despite being in the southeast, the island's small size means everything is just 20 to 30 minutes away by car, so getting around was never an issue. As a thank-you for their incredible hospitality, we invited James, Dalilette, and their family to a small celebration on our last evening. We brought wine, beer, sweets, and chips for everyone, especially the grandchildren, who had a fantastic time playing both indoors and outdoors in the spacious property. It was a joyous way to express our gratitude and celebrate the wonderful time we had together. Rodrigues itself is a slice of paradise—peaceful, unspoiled, and full of friendly, welcoming people.

We spent three weeks in Mauritius (rent a car around island) and Rodrig. The best part is actually Rodrig. I recommend at least eight days here..Mauritius is so, so ( except La morne and region we discovered that La Belle du Sud guesthouse has in fact an excellent location - only a three hundred meters (flat) to the bus station (a fairly frequent), close to a shop (150 m) and in the same time in the middle of nature . From airport- you could take bus to port mathurin, get out of the bus at mount lublin and take bust to Port du Sud… or take the bust to final stop in port mathurin and take bus there..)..There is a pleasant walk from the guesthouse around a kilometer and half to Morouk beach, from where you can further walk eastward from one beautiful)almost empty) beach to another all the way to the eastern beaches. In gravier are two restaurants). a truly wonderful walk on well-marked trails. We loved having at guesthouse a private large terrace surrounded by greenery and a view of the canyon and the sea. There is just one large apartment ( so you will be only guests) at guesthouse with everything you need (not luxury, but clean and pleasent , even kitchens) ...the dinners here prepared by father were extremely tasty, there was enough food for breakfast too. This is very important because in general is quite difficult to find open restaurant on rodriguez. We like a very nice family, too. In Port da Sud or Morouk beach (for sunset recommend( you could observe sunrise and sunset- very rare opportunity.. sunrise with all the sounds of the nature ( including animals and birds ) are in particular beautiful. Just climb a few meters from apartment up to hill- .. In general- the quality-price ratio here is probably the best you will find in Rod. and Mauritius. If you like calm atmosphere, nature , friendly people and tasty food you find the proper place . we only regretted that we only had a reservation for three nights .. we should stay at least seven days here…
