Finest Retreats - Victory Mill - Apartment One

It was an apartment where we were self-catering. It was well appointed and clean, and the location was good. The apartment was one of several constructed in a building that had once been a water mill. The overall outside appearance of the converted building is good. The lounge/kitchen area was good, with carpet in the lounge area and an oak floor in the kitchen area. We did not use the TV. The apartment was warm and in July did not need any additional heating.

The sleeping arrangements are not ideal. One bedroom has a double bed, which my friend used. One bedroom which I used has two single beds. These beds were not the usual single bed size and were only 2 feet 6 inches wide. I found this quite unacceptable and uncomfortable. If more than two people are accommodated then a separate lavatory would ease the toilet arrangements. The water heating (and heating) was from a electric boiler which suppled a hot storage tank in a cupboard adjacent to the second bedroom wall. each morning at 05.00am, the pump and boiler sprung into life and made sufficient noise to wake me up each morning. This could possibly be improved by installing some sound insulation. Because of these problems, I certainly would not make a booking in this apartment again and had I known of the restricted single beds and the noise of the water heating arrangement I would not have booked this accommodation. We had earlier stayed in an apartment near Ripon, which was better and less expensive.
