Hacienda Coltea - Cozy Old Town Apartaments

I’m not sure how this apartment received so many high reviews, but our experience did not quite meet those standards. When we first arrived, we found that only one bed was prepared, despite specifying that we were a group of four. Although this could have been a minor issue, we had to contact the property as we couldn’t find where the towels and linen were kept. When we eventually found them, they were still damp. Unfortunately, the sofa was also quite unpleasant — clearly one of those that can’t be washed, with multiple visible stains. Similar stains were also noticeable on the curtains. Overall, the cleanliness of the property was quite poor. On the first night, we even had to deal with a cockroach in the living room. On our last day, the bathroom began to emit a foul smell. There was no hot water on the first night, and on the last night it was only lukewarm, even after leaving it running for 10–15 minutes as instructed. No mat was provided, so the toilet floor became wet while showering. We also used the hairdryer on the first night, and it nearly caught fire as soon as it was plugged in — not only extremely unsafe but also suggesting it hadn’t been functioning properly for some time. The only positive aspect was the apartment’s central location. However, as mentioned in recent reviews, the area is a bit uncomfortable — with many homeless people sleeping outside. There’s even a sign inside the building warning residents to make sure the door is properly closed, otherwise someone might enter and defecate in the staircase. The building itself is old and not well maintained. We stayed here for two nights, but we clearly wouldn’t have stayed any longer than that. If our stay had been longer, we would definitely have looked for alternative accommodation.

It was clean and tidy.

I don’t like the homeless people getting around the building. One even pooped in front of the building door.

Perfect location for a tourist. Close to the old town and at foot distance to most of the sightseeings. Very nicely decorated.

First of all and most important- the property owners did not send instructions on time how to enter the building. They should have done that a day prior our arrival, instead they send the instructions more than an hour after we arrived at the destination (4pm). With two kids and a lot of luggage we spent that time walking around the building, asking neighbours for any information about the Hacienda Coltea owner. The apartment was OK. Not very clean, but not extremely dirty. Some appliances did not work (hair dryer, microwave, toilet seat cover was broken). The mattress was concave, the sofa has seen better times, too, but these are not a big deal for us. We understand there are a lot of people visiting and it is normal to have such problems. The main problem, as I said earlier was that we were left “in the dark” for more than an hour, did not know what to do, almost thought we were scammed.

It was perfect lovely flat in the heart of the old town of Bucharest. Beautiful panoramic view, very convenient to walk around. There are a bunch of stores. So it is a good deal!

Amazing location right in the center. The view is incredible. Comfortable and spacious apartment.

Was missing some items/utencils in the kitchen

It is right at the centre. Metro and busses literally on the doorstep.

Since it is on the main road the traffic noise was loud especially at night.
