JOIVY Contemporary Cottage with Free Parking

Excellent location and parking space a bonus.

This is the second time we have stayed at Orwell Cottage. The property is now in need of decoration, and the kitchen equipment likewise needs a thorough stocktake and replenishing: the chopping board in the kitchen is now dangerous, as a large shard of metal has come loose. The WiFi has been corrupted and needs to be checked over, as my own devices were hacked during the stay. The towels provided are not sufficient for two adults staying several nights. As there is no dishwasher better washing-up facilities should be provided e.g. gloves.

Für mich sicher kein Bijoux. Ich habe zugesehen, so viel Zeit wie möglich NICHT in der Unterkunft zu sein, weil ich mich nicht wohl gefühlt habe (s.u.). Der Preis ist m.E. überhaupt nicht gerechtfertigt. Beim Bewegen des Standspiegels im Wohnzimmer ist ein vorher beschädigtes Bein komplett abgebrochen. Die einzelnen Holzteile waren nur zusammengesteckt aber nicht repariert worden. Auf dem Sideboard war nicht Staub gewischt. Der Rahmen des darauf stehenden TV-Gerätes ist schadhaft. Die gesamte Unterkunft war vermutlich nur mit einem Swiffer ausgewischt worden. In den Ecken, unter dem Sofa und an den Metallschwellen haben sich Staub und lange, schwarze Haare gesammelt. Der Fussschemel und das Sitzkissen des Sofas sind fleckig. Die Schrauben, die das Regal im Schlafzimmer zusammenhalten sind locker. Wenn man etwas drin versorgt, wackelt das gesamt Gestell. Man kann sich (nur) im Schlafzimmer die Haare föhnen, der Stecker passt sonst nirgends. Als ich das gemacht habe, sind Staubflocken aus der Deckenlampe aufs Bett heruntergesegelt. Wenn es regnet und man in der Küche das Licht anstellt, tropft es aus dem Deckenabzug auf die Arbeitsplatte und auf den Boden davor. Wenn man nach dem Toilettengang spült, spritz das Spülwasser aus der WC-Schüssel schräg VOR die Schüssel auf den Boden. In der Dusche ist der Wahlschalter lose, mit dem man zwischen den beiden Brausen wechseln kann.

Full of character, great location, didn’t have a car but was able to walk everywhere. Managed to get all my washing done.

I don’t think I really worked out how much it was going to cost with an extra cleaning bill on top of the accommodation bill. I was out all day just slept and showered and did my washing. I left it as clean as it was when I arrived. Only the sheets and towels needed changing. I put the rubbish out. There was a welcome gift on the table addressed to someone else, so I left it.

al llegar la entrada no era lo que esperábamos, pero después no le faltaba de nada.

The location was good, close to bus stops. The free parking was great. Underfloor heating also a bonus. The washing machine was also handy!

Hard to communicate with property manager. The blinds in the bedroom weren’t working properly and no one replied to this concern when I contacted them. So we had to sleep with bright lights coming into the room. On these blinds was also mould.

This property was not too far a walk from Murrayfield

The property was very overpriced for what it was. Had it been cheaper, its shortfalls could have been overlooked. It could have been cleaner. It smelt a bit damp and I do have photos of areas that could have been cleaner. The worktops felt sticky. The photos on the site do this property justice
