The property was fantastic and very well located. However, the absolute best thing was the treatment we received from Sam. Sam was available all the time and helped us with anything we needed in our stay in Arugam Bay, from helping us to book transportation and rent surf boards at fair prices to giving us tips and advice. It felt like staying at a friend and we are very thankful for that. PS: if you can, book the breakfast option. Sam makes it himself. The breakfast is delicious, local and different every day (picture of one of the days attached)

The owner is always helpful and friendly. The room is decent for the price.

The open kitchen requires a lot of effort to keep clean because many crows cause disturbances while cooking or eating throughout the town. This guest house is no exception. Sources

The location is close to the beach.

Me and my husband slept here for 4 nights. The rooms look nothing like the pictures. They are old, poorly maintained, and very disappointing. The toilet was dirty, smelled terrible, and the bed sheets were stained and worn out. The air conditioning does not work properly because the swing is broken, so the cold air blows directly onto you all night, making it very uncomfortable. The owner was extremely rude, demanded the money upfront (never happened before in Sri Lanka), and showed no interest in keeping the place clean. Trash bins were overflowing for days, and instead of being emptied, his friends would come and sit in the garden drinking beer. To make things worse, insects, frogs, and spiders kept coming into the room. Overall, it was an unpleasant and uncomfortable stay — I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I am a female solo traveler and decided to stay here after reading many positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. I don’t mind if a place is not perfect aesthetically or if there are stains here and there, but the noise during the night was unbearable. I could not sleep at all. The air conditioning was either freezing cold when on, or unbearably hot when off, and it was not adjustable. Through the (plastic?) roof I could hear animals running all night, which made the sounds even louder. As a woman traveling alone, I did not feel safe. I was too afraid to go to the bathroom during the night because of animals around, and I felt very uncomfortable. I decided to leave after the first night, even though I had booked three nights. The friendly concierge offered to change my room, but I no longer felt safe or comfortable and desperately needed proper rest. Unfortunately, the owner (who was not present) refused to refund the two unused nights, so I had to pay the full amount. This was sadly the worst stay I’ve had in three weeks of traveling in Sri Lanka.

Schöne, ruhige Anlage und dennoch in wenigen Gehminuten in der Stadt oder am Strand. Sam war sehr nett und bemüht unseren Wünschen nachzukommen (z.B. Moskitonetz). Gutes Frühstück.

Unterkunft war nicht dicht (kleine Tierchen im Zimmer, v.a. viele Ameisen). Bad und restliches Zimmer sind nur durch halbhohe Wand getrennt. Kein Fenster, lüften nur über offene Tür möglich. Da es sehr warm war, hatten wir die ganze Nacht den Ventilator an (leider sehr laut und nur wenig Effekt), um es in der Hütte überhaupt auszuhalten. Die Küche lädt wenig zum Kochen ein.
