It is conveniently located between Canyon and Palo Duro Canyon. I really liked the peace and quiet, the hottub, and the full kitchen.

My husband and I stayed at the cowboy cabin. We scheduled late and arrived late. The property owner was very sweet and accommodating to our last minute reservation. This location is very peaceful and comfortable. I enjoyed the country-ranch feel and felt very safe. I will be staying here in the future.

"Definitely a superior alternative to staying in the local Hotels."

9.0

I loved the host! Lee was personable and genuine. Our conversations left me laughing and I felt a connection to a real person, who wanted our stay to be memorable. She went out of her way to provide fresh eggs and even bought wine glasses for us, after learning we loved wine. Upon arrival we found the cabin to be rustic, yet clean, and decorated in a western boho style. I loved the painted pocketed doors, and being a boho hippie type soul, I appreciate the cabin vibe. The location was well within modern day luxuries including a winery (Bar Z Winery, a must visit if you enjoy local wines), unique restaurants ( Definitely visit the Ranch House Cafe for amazing home style food, but avoid the King and I japanese restaurant, terrible food quality and even worse staff). There was even a local Walmart within four miles to pick up incidentals and essentials which we had forgotten to pack. The area and cabin can be be described as cowboy chic meets cozy eclectic comfort. The cabin had everything we could need, including a washer and dryer, a great galley style kitchen with basic cooking needs (think stove refrigerator microwave), and a few basic cooking essentials like salt pepper sugar and coffee. There was even a coffee pot, cooking utensils, plenty of clean linens and towels. I travel a lot kayaking and hiking in national parks and generally camp, but as I was traveling with my husband who has a chronic lung condition, we decided on a cabin with creature comforts best suited for our trip. We were not disappointed, and the cost comparison between renting from Lee, and staying in a hotel was the best option we could have chosen. The Palo Duro Canyon State Park, and Amarillo were minutes from the cabin's location, and even the infamous Cadillac Ranch was mere minutes away. It was very quiet aside from the prairie winds, which only added to the western Texas experience, we enjoyed our stay.

We appreciated the quiet and serene environment, and with personal preferences for what constitutes cleanliness or esthetics set aside (as they are as subjective and unique to each potential guest), the only drawbacks I can mention would be the accessibility for the mobility impaired. The cabin had a flagstone pathway from a gravel parking space, as well as a few steps up a handrail porch to enter into the cabin. This location may pose difficulties to those dependent on mobility devices, such as a walker or wheelchairs to enter the cabin. As for the comfort of amenities. The cabin was roomy with ample sitting areas including two couches, a dining table two bedrooms, one with a double sized mattress and a smaller room with the day bed. Again, the preference of the reviewer needs to be kept in mind, the mattress of the main cabin bed can be described as extremely firm. So, if you need a more forgiving firmness, consider bringing your own topper.
