Stay @ The Wellington, Burton On Trent

Supposed to be notified of codes on the day before visit we were not and i had to chase owners on the day of which made us very late leaving London The bed mattress was worn out and had no support it was like sleeping on a plank. No slip mat, shelf for toiletries or hand rail in the shower. The shower was scaldingly hot, dangerously so and difficult to turn down No a/c traffic noise too loud to have windows open the room was like an oven We were not advised that the kitchen was shared

Value, size, very comfortable bed, communication via WhatsApp. Near station

Not problem for us as good local shop minutes away but was only left half a single toilet roll for 4 nights. Also, the fridge was unusable as no socket close enough, just a hole in wall where looks like once was one.

The location

It was hard to find a parking space nearby.

The facility was excellent and located perfect.

Shower cubicle too small and not much pressure in the shower water flow.

Very convenient for our overnight stay near a wedding venue

Our room right at the front was bad for traffic noise. There must have been a pothole outside our room, with Lorrie's bouncing over it. The room itself was great as was the en-suite If you want quiet choose the back bedrooms

The bed had a huge sag in the mattress and was very uncomfortable - literally 4 inches deep. It should have been replaced a long long time ago.

Close proximity to shops great access to A38 North & South very close to train station.

Decor of rooms & in & around the building too “clinical”, perhaps too “white” walls & ceilings

Nothing to like.

Disapointing facilities. No- smoking signs everywhere but heavy cigarette smoke smell throughout the building. Parking was not always available around the building as first come available slots only. The kettle in the bedroom had bad limescale in it. Could not make drinks in the bedroom as advertised on the website. When I sent the host a message, they told me to use the kettle in the communal kitchen. You pay for comfort and facilities available in the bedroom, which was not the case. Windows had some sticky stuff on it instead of blinds. Some windows don't open at all. Old worn mattress on bed. Street lighting disturbs sleep as there's no curtains on the windows to block it. Room smelled stale. Dirty marks on the carpet in front of the bed. All the pictures shown on the site were not like it in real life.

There was quite a lot of road noise in the room, but the host provided ear plugs which worked well. The fire alarm went off repeatedly during the morning before we left, and we had to use ear plugs then too. Good communication from the host about that and they arranged for an engineer to attend, but we had to leave so do not know the outcome

Less road noise. And a fire alarm going off is far from relaxing. Luckily it didn’t wake us up as we were awake already, but I was in the shower at the time and we were worried at first that it might really have been a fire, not just a fault. It spoilt our enjoyment of the property somewhat
