The kitchenette was a little limited - but we ate out so it didn’t matter. And the wine and snacks provided made up for it! Nice bathroom and bedroom with a little sitting area. Hot tub looked great but sadly we were having such a good evening in Whanganui we didn’t get back in time to use it!

Every aspect was beyond our expectations. Wonderful generous hosts. Tranquil natural setting. Spacious and elegant accommodation. Plus quality beds and linen. Generous and superb breakfast prepared by hosts.

Everything, the facilities and the generosity of Alan and Lois was beyond our expectations. We had a lovely room, the use of a jacuzzi and the gardens. Breakfast was outstanding. Superbly located to explore the wonderful town of Whanganui and surrounds.

It’s difficult to know where to start. There is so much that we appreciated our stay at Durie Vale Lodge. I’ll start by saying that the accommodation itself is exceptional. Everything is of the highest quality and provides an experience that is one of real luxury. The photos and description provided online when booking are 100% accurate. The hosts, Lois and Alan, have put a lot of time and thought into the Airbnb. The decor is an excellent reflection of their interests and the lives that they have lived with their overseas travel. They are thoroughly interesting people who engage with their guests in a manner that is friendly, authentic and mindful of people’s privacy. Every morning we had a lovely menu to select our breakfast from. It was a great way to start the day and was a time where we were able to get good insights from Alan and Lois about local sites that were worth visiting. As well as the accommodation and the hospitality, we have to make special mention of their lovely chicken who stole my mother‘s heart. Totally delightful. We can completely recommend Durie Vale Lodge as a superb experience in itself and a well located base for spending time in Whanganui.

Alan and Lois the hosts are just lovely people. We had a warm welcome and they showed us around the property - with a beautiful garden. It was all clean and tidy and just lovely! The hot top is amazing as is the whole outdoor area. They made us a delicious breakfast according to our wishes. Alan and Lois are very accommodating and of great help with our problems. We truly enjoyed our time with them and if we are ever back in Aotearoa we will come back!
