2L De Volharding

Fabulous location, communication and great apartment. Couldn’t ask for more!

It was loud, we were totally fine with it but if someone is sensitive you might want to pick another location.

The location and views are beautiful, looking out over the canal and harbour in the East of Leiden. The building is interesting and has a lot of character. We ended up downstairs in the restaurant and bar on a few evenings, great food and drinks, although quite expensive. The apartment was sufficient for our family of four, and is updated, very high ceilings and huge windows looking out over the harbour. We were out a lot so just used the apartment as a place to sleep. We booked the one bedroom apartment and so my husband and I slept on the sofa bed, which was not very comfortable, compared to our bed at home, but it was okay. We were able to log in to our Netflix account and watch a couple of movies in the evening, once the kids were in bed. It took us a couple of days to work out that the oven is actually a combination oven/microwave oven. It would be helpful if you provided a folder to explain this. Very steep and narrow stairs to get up to the first floor. We managed fine with this, but I think some unfit people may struggle. When we arrived, it was a very sunny warm afternoon and the blinds were all open, so the temperature in the apartment was 38 degrees centigrade and we couldn’t open the windows. So keep the blinds closed on sunny afternoons. We managed to work out how to open one window in the kitchen by about half a foot, but it took two of us to open it, very heavy old windows.

Great facilities, large rooms, beautiful views.

It was a shame about the loud music from the restaurant below which went on until after midnight. This was the only downside of the property.

There was construction going on underneath and they were painting everything.

I was in contact with the hosts and they made everything easy. Entry to the apartment was well-organized and my family and I were very comfortable in the apartment. The views were wonderful, we spent a long time just gazing at the harbour scenes. I have stayed at de Volharding three times now and will continue to do so. Dank u vel!

The view from the apartment over the harbor is fantastic

The location is awesome. Just by a pretty canal, and close to the city centre. The studio has everything you need, it is of a good size and the views are great (I stayed on the top floor).

It is not a hotel, there is no staff around if you need anything. You can contact them by email and will probably need to wait until the next day to get something sorted.

Really nice apartment with great location!

The view of the harbor is beautiful. It is close to the center. The management had been very helpful and quick in answering all the questions.
