HUIt was super nice. There is incredible view. A small apartment with one bedroom and a comfortable bathroom and living room kitchen combination. So nice and friendly. The owner is super helpful and flexible.

There was a smell of gas reported to tenant. We had to close kitchen door leading to bedroom and sleep with windows open

Being 40 minutes walk away and it wasn’t easy to get a taxi. The towels could of been newer and we couldn’t find any rubbish bags to put rubbish in. Also no laundry detergent and had to go looking outside for clothing rack
USThe view of the lake is espectacular. The place was clean, and quiet. Nice home, with a bit of yard. Confortable home.
I had to take a taxi to get to town. It was a bit far from town. I was no able to use the stove to heat up my food. And I had to take the garbage with me when checking out. Very odd. For the price.

I specifically looked for an apartment with air conditioning, since we don't tolerate heat well. It turned out that instead of a normal air conditioner, there was a small portable air conditioner that didn't cope well with the heat.
AEThe apartment is big and cosy, which gives you a "home" feeling. The location is absolutely perfect with breathtaking views of the lake. However, it is important to have a car at hand, as the road to the apartment is quite steep and may be a bit of a challenge for families with children or elderly people. Varenna city centre, which is very pretty by itself and has a ferry station, should you wish to go to any other town of lake Como, is just 40 minutes walk away (5 minutes by car). The apartment is well equipped and suitable for a long stay. The host was very welcoming and the instructions on arrival were very precise and easy to follow. We highly recommend Ortensia apartment and hope to come back soon.
ITUSThough a bit hard to get to, the apartment is quiet and offers marvelous views of Lake Como.
The bed was very uncomfortable—hard and unyielding. This was a challenge as we were staying about a week. After my complaint, it seems the owners will buy a new mattress or at least a quality topper. I also such freeing up some space, as the apartment is filled with the owners’ things.
