Ortensia Lake Como - perfect for couple and pets

We loved the location and the view...and the facility was okay once we figured everything out.

While we booked the apt. on my husband's phone, we stipulated that we would only be using my phone during the trip. Unfortunately, all the information about access and entry into the apt. went to the wrong phone and we were left to fend for ourselves. We had no idea what the place looked like, where we could park or how to get into the apt. complex or apt. Thank Goodness for a neighbor who spoke English and took the time to call Booking.com, on our behalf. After 45 minutes or more on the phone, the neighbor was able to identify which lockbox, the PIN #, which keys to use, which parking space and which apt. was ours and helped us to get into the place. This whole process took over 1 1/2 hrs....and after a lengthy road trip, we were not happy. I would highly recommend that someone meet the guest at the property as this is a more complicated "entry process". Furthermore, since this property is renting to English-speaking guests as well as other international visitors, I would assume that items necessary to the comfort of the guest would be labeled in several languages. We spent two hours trying to figure out how to turn up the heat (during one chilly evening). We finally figured it out with the help of a youtube video. My husband is a General Contractor in America and that is how we finally turned on the gas for the stove. He knew where it might be located. One of the amenities of this apt. that we looked forward to was a washing machine...which we never used. We were on an extensive road trip and assumed we would be able to wash and dry our clothes while there. With no instructions on the machine, I was uncomfortable using the washer for fear that I would do something wrong. That was a disappointment. The ONLY English instructions in the apartment was a small sign on the apartment front door reading " Please empty trash when you leave". We had no clue where they wanted us to dump the trash...MORE INFORMATION PLEASE!!!

The view and outdoor space is absolutely amazing!! We loved waking up to the lake and eating our dinner outside. The pictures are very accurate. The area is very quiet and relaxing. The communication from the host was brilliant, really clear instructions and directions. We were even allowed to check in a little early which we really appreciated.

The patio was fantastic when it got sunny. One Lovely restaurant about 10 minute walk away (we had to drive every where else)

Three keys needed to get into the apartment - two of which were very difficult to make work. Front door lock needs to be replaced. And mark at least which key is the front door - even with nail polish or a marker so one isn’t trying keys which look the same

We were in a quite location up from town, it might be a a bit noisier in high season. Lovely open front area with great views across the lake. Will miss getting up to the views, and having drink in the evening looking over the lake. Unless your a keen walker would have a car to go to town and park in the multi-storey for day if in town or using ferry's

The property has a sensational view of Lake Como and beautiful sunsets. There is everything you need for a short or extended stay. It is in a peaceful location and having a car parking space was great. Thetis a fabulous restaurant up the road. Food was excellent. The instructions on arrival are very good and the property manager helpful if you need anything.
