Hale O Malu at Kaloli Point

The appartement was really nice, and so were the hosts! The small kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The bedroom & living-room gave enough space, and also the porch with Views to the garden was quite relaxing. The bed was also comfortable. The furniture and bathroom are modern and worked Just fine. Check-in and -out we're really easy! The hosts were also very friendly and caring; they also have us information and updates to the ongoning eruption of the Kilauea volcano :). Only the wifi kicked us out sometimes, but that was not so much an issue for us.

The facilities are possibly the cleanest rental we have ever stayed at. The only part that could have been cleaned better was the refrigerator.

The lack of air conditioning in the room. It was quite warm and for someone not used to the sounds of animals in the woods, sleeping with the windows open was a bit difficult.

Beautiful renovated unit. 5 minute walk from the cliffs. Remote quiet location in residential area about 20-30 minutes from Hilo. There is no beach, as beaches are very rare on the East Coast of the Big Island. It’s all cliffs and high surf. If you are looking for a beach vacation, you need to stay on the West Coast, by Kona. Hale O Malú is a great spot for those seeking to see the natural beauty of the big island. It has great proximity to the Hawaii Volcano National Park, and within driving distance to many waterfalls. There’s a fabulous farmers market bout 15 minutes away on Sundays only. Much cheaper and bigger than Hilo Farmers Market.

Loved the neighbourhood setting, closeness to cliffs for watching waves, and closeness to Shipman’s Beach hike.
