HOLLINS NOOK - Countryside House - Gateway to Lakes National Park

Ben is a great host, really good communication. The house is a home from home and well situated to explore the Lake District

Lovely quiet location with good access to all the sights in Lake district. Close to all amenities.

It was a good location, had an adequate amount of space. The handover process was good. Furniture was comfortable. Nice interior decoration.

There was not enough cutlery, plates, etc. not enough space to hang clothes, no hooks to hang towels, getting in and out of parking spot was difficult. Could not adjust heaters individually to help dry towels / clothes, so either had to turn heating on in whole house even if only needing it in one room to dry something. Would be nice to have somewhere outside that is covered to leave things to dry.

Very clean, nice looking place, good facilities, netflix, and games provided if needed.

Not enough kitchen equipment. No kitchen roll, only 4 forks for the 5 of us.

Very homely! The beds were very comfortable! The children loved the set up in the loft with the fairy lights… It’s also a 10/15 minutes drive from Windermere

It took us a while to work out where the property was, but it’s at the back of other houses hidden away

The only positive I have about this property is that the bed was comfy. The bedding was clean but did look like it had been screwed up in the bottom of the wash basket for a month

The whole experience was GRIM!! The house needs a thorough deep clean from top to bottom. The bathroom is covered in black MOULD, it also hadn’t been cleaned, poo splattered all over the toilet including the lid, hairs on the tiles around the bath and sink. There is a thick layer of dust and hairs throughout on the skirting boards. Dead flies and spiders everywhere, dusty cobwebs all over. The kitchen walls were horrendous (all of the walls in the place need repainting) but the kitchen ones you could actually see stains running down the walls. The kitchen table has pink stains and biro all over the top of it and chips covering the surface (needs replacing) I had realised as soon as we pulled up from the look of the exterior that we had perhaps made a mistake with our booking - it was advertised with a garden, patio and parking. The parking is outside the front door on some sparse gravel covered in weeds, there is also a planter at the front door full off weeds. There is no garden at all (this has been removed from the listing since I pointed it out although Ben tried to say it didn’t say that, so I sent him the screen shots, it was immediately changed) there is also no patio!! There are however some wonky, uneven slabs sat on top of the gravel in the corner of the car parking space, you could I suppose call it a patio in very loose terms. The windows were filthy inside and out. I have been communicating with Ben since the night of our arrival as I really wanted to leave but we had so much booked in the lakes my husband talked me into just sleeping there. Ben has offered to refund the cleaning fee and said he would appreciate i didn’t leave a review. I declined as even if the place was clean that disgusting bathroom is not fit for use with the amount of mould in there and there was no way I wasn’t leaving a review.
