"Lovely memories, rich history, kids love it - service could be better."

10.0

The facilities for kids and hidden gems (like the bear and cinema room) are so great. The grounds are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Pools are exceptional. Loved our room and the rich history of the place.

The waiting times for service. I probably spent an hour total queuing in reception to check in + ask about dinner reservations + asking about facilities, as there was never more than one person checking in people (a very long process), on the phone to booking.com about their chat system being hacked (a huge issue that booking.com is not helping with), or simply no one being there. Not ideal when you're pregnant and having a toddler in tow. In the restaurant, we repeatedly had to re-ask for menus, water, drinks order, to be seated, cutlery, and our food once took 50 minutes to arrive - again, not ideal with hungry kids. We ordered a supreme room, which is perfect, but not huge. It's a standard size room. That there are even smaller rooms for families is hard to imagine.

"An excellent restful mini break"

9.0

Location great, staff helpful and attentive. Pool was a bonus. Gardens were interesting and ground staff were a pleasure to speak to.

Unfortunately our room was above the extraction system for the kitchen which was a bit noisy until the kitchens closed.

"A brilliant location, ideal for families with the right amount of quirkiness"

9.0

Every member of staff was very warm, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Staff in the main hotel, the pool area, garden area and cleaning, all had a smile and warmth about them. In particular the pool staff regularly tidied up and replaced drinking cups The cooked to order breakfast was superb

Drinks were overpriced and deterred us from eating in the hotel. £7 for a can of ordinary beer was outrageous. Setting reasonable prices is an art, but with Bradford on Avon a short walk/drive away it is easy to get cheaper meals and drinks

"Relaxing family break in a beautiful period manor house."

10.0

The relaxed atmosphere and the choice of activities for the children made it perfect for a multi-generational family break. The catering was of a very high order with fresh produce used.

Although we are dog lovers we were not keen on large dogs being allowed in the restaurant. On one occasion two large dogs at the next table were rather intimidating and their owners seemed oblivious of this.
