Luxury Residence 906 at Taj Cape Town

Alright, confession time: I’m a solo female traveler, 45+, who usually stays somewhere between a Premier Inn and "whatever’s cheap but not haunted." Luxury? Not my usual vibe. South Africa? I was excited but also low-key worried. You hear the stories. But I decided to live a little (midlife crisis, anyone?) and booked the Luxury Residence at Taj Cape Town. Best. Decision. Ever. From the second I arrived (looking like I'd been tumble-dried after an 12-hour flight from London) the staff treated me like I was actual royalty. I was sweaty, sleep-deprived, and possibly a bit grumpy, but they greeted me with a warm towel, a smile, and took my suitcases straight to the room. The apartment is stunning, super clean, modern, with a washing machine, full kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, fantastic air-con and the kind of balcony that makes you feel like you’ve made it in life. I had views of both Table Mountain and Lion’s Head. Not too shabby for someone who usually gets a room overlooking a car park. Safety-wise? I felt completely secure the entire time. As a solo female traveler, that was huge. The staff were incredible, helpful, respectful, and always around. The lovely porters always walked me to my taxi (and they check the license plates for you too!). Every night, I used the hotel’s swimming pool and sauna (access via your key card). Then I treated myself to the hotel spa, the Fynbos massage was so relaxing. The Bombay Brasserie is on-site and does room service. I ordered the butter chicken. Delicious. Long story short: if you’re thinking of going to Cape Town, book this place. It was safe, relaxing, and luxurious. I came back glowing, well-fed, and mildly heartbroken that I had to leave.

For many years I have enjoyed staying at Taj Cape Town; this visit however, I experienced an entirely different level of luxury. The apartment is spacious and offers world-class accommodation in a prime, central location with breathtaking views, including Table Mountain just out the window. I hope to return soon!
