The Annex: 2 bedroom cottage, countryside, peaceful getaway with garden

Incredibly clean, great baths and bathrooms. Great kitchen set-up. Generous welcome pack

Didn’t know until final weeks the distance from the car park to the entrance. We were supposed to be bringing my mother in law for the trip and last minute she couldn’t make it. It would have been too far for her to navigate over different surfaces and distance- would have been good to explain upfront. Couldn’t see the dogs from the property when we let them out. Would have been good to highlight. One toilet roll over two bathrooms seems unnecessary . No plug sockets easily accessible to upstairs bed for tech.

Dog poo left in garden and on paths - from previous guests ??. recommend clearing that up before other guests ! Annexe is sited close to trainline - quite noisy with trains rushing by

Really lovely place love the baths, bed and very dog friendly. Easy parking and access.

We had a small dog who was able to fit under the gate, but no problems with our bigger dogs.

Location was super easy to get to York Super restaurants close by Quality of the bathrooms and bedrooms were outstanding

Only negative was the train line close by but after a few hours didn’t hear them go by

The property was lovely, relaxing, had everything we needed provided and the owners even left us a little basket of essentials for our first night which we didn’t expect but very much appreciated. It was clean, comfortable, plenty of room for the six of us. If needing to travel near or around York would definitely stay here again and recommend.

Nothing it was perfect.

The property had character and the bathrooms were well equipped.

The lack of heating contributed considerably to our experience. The living room area was particularly cold and we had to use the fire every night/morning, purchase extra logs and it’s worth mentioning that the fireplace is unsafe. The fire surround is loose and there is no proper flap on the front of the grate to help control the heat. Additionally, upon arrival there were no towels in one of the bedrooms (the owner sent them around in fairness once we made them aware). We questioned the heating but the owner said there was no issue, just turn the radiators on which didn’t work! Thankfully there were supplementary small radiators provided which helped to heat the bedrooms. There were limited facilities provided in the kitchen, I would suggest more crockery, glasses and cutlery. Outside there is hardly any lighting from where you park your vehicle to access the house so this is tricky in autumn so make sure you have many torches. Additionally the hedges were very overgrown near the front door so this made the path quite difficult to access.

L'endroit est isolé dans la campagne au sein d'un petit groupe de maisons. Le gîte est cosy avec une belle décoration. Il est globalement plutôt bien équipé.

Une ligne de chemin de fer se situe non loin du gîte et peut donc potentiellement déranger certaines personnes sensibles à ce genre de passage. Ce ne fut pas notre cas.
