Some refurbishment needed in say the bathrooms.

I liked the breakfast and dinner buffet at this hotel. I also liked the elegant and tastefully done decor throughout the hotel. The view from the room was that of the entrance but the view of the mountains from the outside dining area was very good. The staff were warm and welcoming and obliged our requests to have items from the breakfast and dinner buffet sent to our rooms since we were all unwell at the time. Also, I promptly received a receipt for the Sikkim tourism fee at check in which shows me that the staff are principled.

I didn't like the overall noise level in the room. The hotel seems to allocate rooms to families in one section. As a consequence, we had to bear noise from families with small kids and that was really annoying especially since my entire family and I were recovering from food poisoning from an earlier excursion. My daughter is 11 years old and very quiet so I felt it unfair to be grouped in with families with smaller kids. We should've probably requested to be moved to another room but were too ill to deal with a move at the time. They should probably space out families in alternate rooms to avoid discomfort to families with bigger kids. On the plus side, small kids sleep early so the racket died down quickly after 10:00 p.m. Restful sleep at night was another challenge. The constant slamming of car doors followed by chatting among the drivers and staff at the entrance as guests arrive and depart from the hotel early morning was quite irritating.

Breakfast was good especially the South Indian Dishes and egg preparations. Selection of the dinner menu was also good, I specially liked the fish and pasta. We liked that Breakfast and tea is served in an English Colonial Style using period table wares and crockery. We appreciate the attentiveness and guest friendly behaviour of F&B Manager Mr. Sudip Ji . Welcoming and attentive staff.

Selection of quality Breads could have been better.

A property that is truly a summer palace, with old world charm oozing from every corner. The staff is very helpful and courteous and took good care of us.
