Birkenshaw - Beautiful Shepherd’s Hut in the Highlands.

It is a fantastic place in a beautiful location. The hut had everything you need with a lot of extra personal touches that made it special. The compost loo was as expected, but we didn't brave the shower. If you want to have a peaceful, quiet stay, then i would highly recommend this place. If you are using Google maps to find the location type in Fiddlers Green, it took us straight to it

We liked everything about this property it was so quirky and really appreciate what Anna and Steve are doing to reduce there carbon footprint. It is eco glamping at its finest. Good phone signal.

Beautiful location, a surprising number of facilities and details, friendly owners whom were very accomodating. The sun room gave flexibility in what we could do to self cater, and the hut itself was very well decorated and cosy. Somewhere I would definitely return to

Beautiful off the grid experience in picturesque setting . Great kitchen/ sunroom facilities. Enjoyed the outdoor shower, luckily the weather was warm . Beautifully decorated and great use of natural Timbers .

One of the loveliest and most relaxing stays we have had on our year long world round trip! The hut is so cozy and you feel absolutely at peace and at one with nature sitting on the hammock out the back! Could not recommend higher!

Hosts Anna and Steve made me very welcome. Shepherds Hut comfortable and would be cosy in colder weather with wood burning stove. I had good weather which helps any holiday. Showering and toilet were an adventure! Good cooking facilities in the Sun Lounge. Birds in and around the location were wonderful which suited me. Had a fire outside the hut one evening. The Fiddlers Green location is stunning and proximity to Loch Fleet and Dornoch Firth.

Anna and Steve offer an experience, call it what you will, back to nature, living sustainably etc. Compost toilets are fine with me. Not sure how brave I would be cold showering in the vegetable garden in bad weather!

Fantastic to stay at a property that was so ‘green’. All very natural and pure, bathing in the rainwater shower was a great experience. Thank you Anna for making us welcome and sharing your passion for sustainable living.

Anna renovated the hut very beautifully, it´s so cozy and comfy! The oven was set up with a fire to be enlightened , when we arrived, even a welcome drink and cookies were there! The composting toilet hut was so cool, but a bit scary , when you needed to walk to it during the night. But for the little business a chamber pot was there! The oven worked very well, once we got the right airflow to it. In fact so good, that we needed a window open a night . The hut is set in the garden of Anna and Steven, but you can barely see the house. You get more of a feeling, that the hut is set somewhere very lonesome. The birds haveing a snack in front of your window was so cute to watch. The garden is like a magical place. The outdoor shower was a bit to chilly that day, the kitchen room had everthing you needed. It was an extraordinary stay, going back to the roots and be aware, how much or less you live sustainably. Thanks for the reminder, that all you need in live is less than you might think and we all need to reduce our waste drastically.

The mattress was way to soft for us.
