The Old Inn

I attended the Old Inn today with a friend. Exciting new 1614 January menu. Delicious tender, juicy lamb. Creamy mushroom linguine. Followed by a delicious baked cheesecake. However the highlight of our experience was the wonderful customer service provided by Lynn, which made the meal all the more special. Thank you.

This is a wonderful traditional old inn with great character mixed with modern features including a great spa! Rooms are full of character and well appointed and staff are very attentive. Restaurant food is great with large portion sizes and they do a great breakfast all freshly cooked to order. Overall great value for money.

I am a regular visitor to the Old Inn. I am always made to feel welcome and leave feeling relaxed. The spa facilities are excellent and the food is delicious. I would highly recommend a stay in the Old Inn.

Staff were amazing nothing was to much hassle. Rooms were clean and comfortable food was beautiful. The spa was lovely especially in the evening when it was all lit up

After writing a scathing review of another hotel we stayed in as part of a large tour group in the Republic of Ireland, I am writing a stellar review of The Old Inn, Crawfordsburn, our first stop on our group tour of Belfast and the surrounding country and seaside. We stayed in early October 2025 for three nights. Out of curiosity, because our room in the OTHER hotel was so dreadful yet there were satisfied travelers, I wondered if our experience at the Old Inn was the norm. So I scrolled reviews to discover that not all the rooms were as amazing as ours. So this review is mainly for the room and bathroom that we were assigned to. Clearly we were very fortunate to have been given such a large and lovely room with a huge modern bathroom and enormous walk in shower. Not to mention a fun highlight which made the room quite memorable. (Never ever have we had a GOLD bathtub which was at the far end of the room :) Titanic photo op was an absolutely must! The linens and bedding first class, the hardwood floors gleaming and the antiques and settee tasteful. One of several wardrobes held a safe, and high quality terry cloth bath robes and slippers as well as iron and ironing board and standing air purifier or air conditioner. (It was October so we didn’t use it and I don’t remember exactly what it was but nothing was shabby or dirty or in need of repair) Everything was spotless. As far as the rest of the hotel, the front desk folks were very friendly, the kitchen responsive to individual orders and food was good. For serving such a large group and taking individual orders they did an excellent job. We peeked in other areas of the hotel which were lovely and several of our group enjoyed the spa area. And the history of the hotel made it that much more interesting. CS Lewis and his wife honeymooned there. We wondered if we had their room — especially since we had the gold bathtub…! Oh, the only negative experience was one night live and very loud music was being performed directly below us (possibly a private celebration) such that we felt we were getting in on the fun — we could hear every word of a pretty good song selection and the thump thump thump of the bass guitar. Thankfully it cut off around 11pm. If you like our pictures and this very positive review of our room, you might want to request the room we had. I don’t remember the name. You can simply say it is the one with the gold bathtub and take a screenshot of our pictures. (And hope there are no private parties on a night you are there if you are early to bed!) I hope your room experience is as wonderful as ours.

I reviewed a previous visit to the Inn and gave it a glowing review. Perhaps therefore I’m in part responsible for what has happened since… January 2026, I bring two friends (visiting from London) to the Inn after a walk along the water only to find the prices have skyrocketed. Even my mates from London couldn’t quite believe what they’d been charged at the bar and returned analysing their receipt… 1x Guinness 1x Ale 1x Diet Coke 1x packet of crisps. £28!!! I’m all too familiar with the cost of living crisis but the Galgorm group is increasingly developing a reputation for these kinds of prices - their other venues are considered expensive and I regret to see the Old Inn has joined them. I’m not afraid to pay when the value is evident - like in the kitchen - but the bar bill left me embarrassed in front of my guests.
