"Intriguing and well appointed cottage, with 10 minute walk to well stocked and beautiful town"

9.0

Intriguing cottage. Plenty of room and very comfy bed (our room had two singles pushed together, so a little hard just right in the middle). Eveything worked and the facilities were good. Parking right outside the door literally, but right on a busy at rush hour and narrow road, so you'd have to watch children / pets. Steep seperate stairs to both bedroooms but reasonable if you're reasonably agile. 10 mins pleasant walk into town - down-hill there, up-hill back. Town is busy during day with tourists and locals, with lots of lovely shops, both chains/supermarkets and local/traditional. In the evening it's nothing but tranquil with lovely walks along the river. Red Lion Pub is great place to eat and/or have a drink and Co-Op caf (not the blue co-op but Derbyshire's version) does lovely cakes in the day and is ideal situated for people watching! High-Peaks just 20 mins drive.

"Disappointing"

5.0

The kitchen equipment and appliances were very good

The stairs are not safe. We are both elderly and both of us have had both knees replaced. Both staircases are steep, particularly the stairs out of the sitting room. The steps are narrow. The banister at the top of the sitting room stair is loose. The heating did not come on on our first night there and together with the draughts from ill fitting doors meant we were cold on that evening. Despite increasing the temperature via the remote no heating came on. The heating did seem to work after day 1 but we were unaware of what time it was due to come on. The time on the remote was not set to BST.

"Good but did not quite meet expectations"

Location was the best thing about the cottage

Cottage is "tired" and in need of refurbishment. Bed needed replacing as middle of mattress was weak

"Enjoyable five days in the Peak District"

9.0

Well located for the Peak District. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay.

The stairs could prove tricky for less able people.
