Sea Pearl Cat Ba Hotel

Everything was good until a problem occurred during the check-out. The staff was helpful during our check-in, and 2-night stay. The lady in the counter even helped us print our boarding pass. The problem was during the check-out when we were told to pay the "additional charges." We booked the room through hotels.com. Eventually, the staff (during our early morning check-out) listened to our explanation that the room was "pre-paid" through hotels.com.

From what I gather this is one of the better places to stay, especially in town. We stayed for 2 nights and first impressions were good. Straight off the ferry and pretty much directly across the road is the hotel. They allowed us to check in at 10.30am which I was most grateful for as I was feeling a bit under the weather (self inflicted!). The room is a decent size and ours had a seaview which was magnificent. The a/c works well, plentiful hot water in the large shower, large bed (on the firm side but still comfortable) but the best part is the rooftop bar and swimming pool! Yes the pool is barely waist deep but for a paddle on a very hot day it's perfect. The pool is clean, quiet and the staff are quick to bring you whatever food and drinks you order. The breeze flows through nicely on the open sided 14th floor where the pool is. The buffet breakfast was average but adequate. The young man on the reception desk during the day speaks reasonable english and was able to answer all of our questions and book our Lan Ha Bay tour for us. The location of this hotel is super convenient to all the restaurants, bars and cafes, massage shops and laundry services. We were overall impressed with what we got for the price we paid.

Average hotel, staff were lovely, great location. Rooms were ok, decent air con and a fan. Bathrooms were tired though and need re-furbishing. Make sure you visit the cocktail on the roof, lovely cocktails!!! Great view and a swimming pool

It was a great hotel especially for the area. It was a good location, close to everything as well.

the staff is great, as always in Vietnam. room I got had blackmold all over the roof. had to dissconnect minibar cause of the noise. the entire building feels like its been forgotten for 10 years

This is a really nice hotel in a fantastic location! Beautiful view, friendly staff, we would definitely come back to this hotel!

Wished we`d stayed on this island longer as had more to do

I was very pleased with the hotel and think it has been under rated by guests. The room was very big and comfortable and I was pleased to have an enclosed shower in the large bathroom. The bed was comfortable but the hotel is a little old by the looks of the furnishings. The fact that the hotel is old did not bother me because it also met all my needs. I had a great breakfast table overlooking the port and breakfast was good.

Nice hotel, clean room, breakfast ok. We were on the 10th floor which has the restaurant and meeting rooms above. At night the noise from them moving chairs constantly (also in the morning) was annoying as well as super loud music and what sounded like karaoke in the daytime and into the night. The breakfast goes until 9am which is early in my opinion. The cleaning staff was knocking on our door by 8:30am and when I told them we needed time to get ready for the day they acted really put out and literally waited 20 mins outside our door which was awkward. The cable went out one morning and they didn't really tell us why or that it would work the next day. I would recommend staying on a lower floor to avoid noise if you stay here.

I enjoy the stay also because I had a room with sea view. Very friendly personal, the room would need some maintenance.
