The New Inn

The room was clean and a good size and breakfast was fine, but that’s it as the rest was a show of incompetence.

Check-in: asked for my booking reference which I provided but was told it was wrong. After 5 minutes of messing around admitted it was correct. I was asked for payment but their iPad was dead so had to wait for them to find another one that worked. At that point we were told there was live music that night - we should have been advised of this long before arrival. Evening: We returned to the hotel at 9.30 to find a singer playing music (not great) so loud it was unbearable in the small bar area. In our room the volume was just as loud and it was difficult to talk over it. It eventually finished at 11.15 (not 11 as promised) to be replaced by everyone shouting to each other as they were probably deaf by this time, which went on until around midnight. Breakfast: We were told breakfast was 09.15 - 10.15. At 09.15 downstairs was still locked up so we made our way behind the bar to get to the restaurant. Behind the bar was sticky and far from clean, as were the tables being used for breakfast. After waiting a while we were asked what hot drinks we would like but after another delay we’re asked if we would like juice as the hot drinks machine needed to heat up. There wasn’t enough orange juice to go round and I asked for cranberry but after another delay was told it was in the cellar and that was locked.

Location - overall not bad value for money

Short staffed. Slow service. Not particularly warm and welcoming. Could do with a lick of paint in places. Beans so over cooked at breakfast could have used as Lego bricks.

Traditional old pub, 300 years old. Excellent value for money. Staff super friendly. Great location.

Very friendly staff, good food, accommodation was very clean - everything you could want for a short stay.

Awkward stairs to navigate with a suitcase - but not really a negative considering the historical age of the inn - and help was offered to carry our cases - only place to offer this service in the 4 hotels we stayed in on this trip!

Room was lovely very pleased with it.

Food ! Our evening meal was overcooked and breakfast could have been a lot better. Scrambles eggs were on the rubbery side. Service for both meals was very slow
