Really available and nice owners

Very dirty place

Clean and cosy, close to the airport and old town.

There is no soap, no towels, and overall experience depends on who you share a room with.

La gentillesse de la femme du proprio, ce dernier peut venir vous chercher ou vous déposer à l'aéroport pour 7 euros.

L'information que la chambre était partagée n'était pas claire et surtout elle ne fermait pas à clé alors que d'autres chambres étaient louées dans le même appartement. La salle de bain partagée n'était pas propre et la poubelle pas vidée. Impossible de décrocher le pommeau de douche pour rincer la baignoire et aucun ménage n'était fait par les hôtes. L'hôte fait payer 12 euros le check-in en avance ou en retard, mais l'information n'est pas claire sur l'annonce. La chambre n'est pas cosy du tout, un côté dortoir militaire. Un peu mesquin.

The location is excellent: just 10 minutes by taxi to São Lourenço and 15 minutes to Ponta da Cruz. It’s a great base for hikers, and there is also a bus for €3 that takes you to all major spots (though it takes a bit longer). Santa Cruz itself is a lovely town with great food prices and a stunning view of the airport runway. Check-in was quick and exactly on time. The owner was always reachable and very helpful, even allowing me to store my luggage after checkout. The hostel is essentially a large apartment converted into a hostel. I stayed in a 3-person room with plenty of storage space. There is one shared bathroom. Keep in mind that most guests are hikers or people with early flights, so early wake-ups are common - earplugs are a must! The place is cleaned daily, though overall cleanliness also depends on the guests. Perfect for those who need a place to shower and sleep after an active day on the island.

A couple of tips for the host: adding individual suction hooks for towels and clip-on reading lights would be huge. Also, selling earplugs for a small donation at the desk would be a great move since everyone's on a different schedule =)

- additional fee 2 euros when paying by card at the hostel during quick (2 minutes) check in with the owner and he asks: " do you want to pay by card or cash" ? I say card and I pay. . He leaves. I open booking and check the price and the WTF. I call him and say: " hey, i should pay you 62,80 and not 64,8 " . He responds : " yes, but there was a 2 euros fee to pay with a card". I asked " why didn't you tell me about this additional fee before? " (...) - no warm water in bathroom sink (only cold water) i wrote about it to the owner -> he did not even reply . Consider, that I paid 62,8 euros for a one night in a room with two single beds. And the owner treats you totally without respect and additionally what is the real cost for the owner to just turn on the warm water in the bathroom sink?
