Sport & Spa Hotel Vesileppis

Staff at the reception was lovely and friendly. We had a beautiful view from our balcony. It's a quiet town with nice people. The Moomin ice cave (the only reason why we chose that hotel) was great. If you're staying in this hotel - buy the tickets to the cave at the reception and you'll get a discount. You can enter the cave as many times as you want for one day and it is worthwhile to do it. It's so good and well done - a must for all Moomin fans. The hotel also offers a lot of sports activities and spa fun ... and we saw a lot of happy faces there, but we didn't use it. The surrounding is very beautiful, just a short walk downhill and you're at a lovely lake (with some shops next to the tourist information - go there and have a look).

I have to say I didn't expect a lot from this hotel, but I wasn't aware that it would be like that. The fan didn't work. The curtains didn't even cover most of the windows. - so don't expect a dark room during the night. The beds were very uncomfortable. The bathroom was tiny and moist, and the water did have a weird colour. There were a lot of mosquitoes and flies - some of them dead and/or squished to the walls. Breakfast was horrible, coffee was just coloured water, if you didn't go early enough, there was nothing left. Nobody was replacing food when needed. It was difficult to get hold of a saltshaker. There's not a lot in Leppävirta - but for having nice dinner - go to Kuopio by car. It's lovely and has a lot of good restaurants.

Location because we were visiting family. Great swimming pool. Very good breakfast Perfect location for ice cave

Room was cold they only provided 1 thin doona and no extra blankets. My doona was stained but the sheet were clean. The windows allowed a lot of cold through them.

Free parking. Swim pool. Bowling. Paddle tennis. Mummin ice cave. Ice skating rink.

Too hot in the room no airco...
