Beautiful 'Mayfield' Villa with private pool!

We recently stayed at this property for a family summer holiday and there were definitely some positives worth noting. The house itself is very spacious and easily accommodated our whole group. The swimming pool and games room were as described, and the pool was pleasantly warm, secluded, and indoors. The sauna was a nice addition, and there was plenty of parking. The location was convenient close to the centre, making it easy to reach restaurants, local shops, and activities. The outdoor space was large and accommodating, which made it great for the kids to run around. The manager was responding to our messages and calls and was very well communicating. Unfortunately, there were also several issues that impacted our stay. The games room had five activities (table tennis, air hockey, table football, darts, and pool), but the air hockey was broken, the pool table was slanted with a ripped carpet and cue sticks missing tips, and the dartboard had no darts. These were disappointing as the children and teenagers were looking forward to using them. In the swimming pool, we found a bundle of hair floating around at the bottom, and the railings/steps to enter were unstable and hazardous, so we avoided them. Cleanliness was a problem throughout the property cobwebs, spiders, and small flies were on ceilings and walls. We found two nails sticking out of the floorboards (one in the passage and one on the stairs), which was dangerous for children. While the owner sent someone to remove one nail and cleaners to address some of the issues, we had to supervise and direct the cleaning ourselves, which was inconvenient and should have been done before our arrival. The second nail we found later and hammered down ourselves. There was also a lack of privacy one day when private contractors arrived without notice to mow the lawn, accessing the rear garden. The property does technically have seven bedrooms, but two are joined, and although there are four bathrooms, one is an en-suite, limiting use for the rest of the group. In some rooms, the skirting boards were detached & made of metal with sharp edges that could be dangerous. On the terrace, the plastic chairs were wet and dirty and hadn’t been cleaned prior to our stay. While we appreciated the late checkout offered, for the price we paid, we expected everything to be clean, ready, and in full working order upon arrival. This property has great potential but would benefit greatly from better maintenance, cleaning, and attention to detail before guests arrive. The owners wont spend a penny on the property unless they are forced to, that is clear.

Hard to talk about what we liked as there were so many issues that dirupted our stay. With proper upkeep this could be a great house but it's verging on a scam at this point.

We had no hot water for most of our stay. Had to deal with plumbers twice, meaning we had to wait in the property to allow them access, even though we asked multiple times for someone else to come to the house to deal with the service providers. The plumber said the boiler was so dangerous and a massive fire risk, as there was no cover over the open flame/pilot light and cleaning chemicals/mops/cloths are being stored right next to it. Then the ceiling started leaking water in dining room, the paper came off and plaster board pooled with water. We had to collect the water in one of our own bowls that we brought with us because the kitchen is so poorly stocked. No glasses, no cups, not even enough plates for the number of guests the house says you can book for - we had to bring our own plates so we could all eat a meal at the same time. There were random children IN THE POOL when we arrived and an infestation of ants in the pool house. Avoid like the plague.

Property was lovely and located in a quiet area. Very clean. Pool was really nice and secluded and the best part was it was heated. Sauna was amazing!!!

Only thing I would say is some of the rooms had openings to boilers and furniture was left in the middle. The beds were slightly slanted in the loft room. Also the kitchen didn’t have all the basic utensils such as glasses but didn’t bother us much as we used the tea mugs . They had an ironing board but no iron.

Spending Christmas with family members in this villa was amazing. The house is clean, speacious, very warm, welcoming, and feels homely. We had an amazing time at the bar, the games room, and the pool. The hosts were so friendly, welcoming, and caring. They always checked on us to see if everything is going well and all that is needed was provided to make our stay a memorable one. The location was perfect, and the house was cosy such a peaceful and relaxing place to stay . Thank you for a great stay. Your thoughtful touches made us feel right at home. Very spacious house with lots of rooms and enough beds for the whole family. The heated pool and games area meant there was plenty to do!

The bathrooms had carpet inside and a lot of mosquitoes. The whole house could do with a fresh lick of paint however overall was good.

Fantastic stay with indoor heated swimming pool being the highlight. Outdoor garden, games room, Sauna and living space were all great and surpassed our expectations
