La Maison del Bell'Antonio - Catania downtown

Beautiful property, well appointed and in great location. Air conditioning was excellent.

Nothing Would recommend a large clothes Airer to allow visitors to dry clothes after washing in the very good washing machine provided in the room otherwise perfect

First of all, the most friendly owner welcomes you with a glass of prosecco and leads you towards the apartment. Everything is super clean and comfortable. An apartment like this at such a location is wonderful.

There is not even one insignificant thing to mention.

First of all, I don't think you could ask for a better location in Catania. The apartment is close to EVERYTHING worth seeing in the city and within walking distance of it all. And the apartment itself is immaculate. The furniture and fixtures are all on the newer side and the decorating is done in an urban, modern vibe that totally juxtaposes with the baroque architecture of the building and surrounding city. The apartment is on the third floor over one of the owner's restaurants, which turns out to be considered one of Catania's finest restaurants for seafood. We were give that intel independently from two locals and when we ate there, it did not disappoint. One of best meals we had in Italy on this trip was at the Osteria Il Bell' Antonio. The pizzeria across the way is also owned by the host and was filled nightly with locals. The pizza there was delicious and the staff at both restaurants are amazing. Yes, it's a bit noisy with people talking and laughing and traffic but so what; it's cool. We slept with the balcony doors open and let the sounds and smells of Catania permeate throughout the place. That's why we opted for this type of accommodation versus a hotel in the first place. If you like it quiet, you can always close the balcony doors and draw the drapes and you will be fine. Roberto and Sandra, our hosts, were attentive and gracious and simply let us live like the locals do. We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and we said our good byes with hugs. It truly was a memorable experience.

Our only criticism (and it is a very minor critique) is that the bathroom had no shelving for your toiletries and the bed could have been a bit more comfortable but still fine. A mattress topper would do the trick.

Rooms were large, clean and in good condition. Also lots of natural sunlight and very close to all the city's main attractions.

Location was very central and characteristic of Catania. The interior of the apartment has been beautifully designed in sympathy with the stunning old features. There are numerous excellent cafes and restaurants on the doorstep together with many extremely interesting sites to visit.

Automatic lighting in the communal hallway would be a bonus but don’t be put off by first impressions of the communal area it’s just typical of the city, the apartment is wonderful.
