The Bidadari Villas & Spa Umalas, between Seminyak and Canggu

The staff were super helpful and friendly, the buildings were beautiful, the accommodation was great, and the dinner and breakfast were excellent. They even allowed a later check-out, as I was working next to the pool, which was fantastic. Very peaceful; I loved the quiet sound of frogs while having dinner, as well as the small lizards that wriggled in and out of the plants, looking for bugs, while I worked in the morning. A private pool and great layout for privacy and working. Would suit couples too.

We found this hotel and the reviews were great. Let’s start by saying the setup is very nice. It’s private, quiet, and very peaceful. The staff are very friendly, and requests are attended to quickly. Service was great which we highly appreciate. Location was good with a convenient store, laundry, money exchange, and restaurants within walking distance. It’s away from the busy area which was good for us.

Now to the room and only about the room. Besides the great size of the villa, everything else about the actual room we were extremely disappointed. Everything is falling apart. The bed is the most uncomfortable bed ever and be ready to wake up with back pain. Toilet flush button is falling off, sink drains being blocked. All furniture is super outdated, and the villa needs a massive renovation immediately. Walls have water damage and cracks. The private pool we had was amazing, but unfortunately we could not enjoy it cause the water was freezing so it was useless. No blackout curtains so you’re woken up at sunrise. Sofas in the outdoor living room are old and disgusting. For the price we pay the villas here need a massive upgrade. No value for money because of the room!

The staff at the property were super friendly and eager to help with anything needed which was lovely. The villa was spacious and very comfortable for our family of four and the private pool was perfect for a dip anytime of day. There is a small restaurant onsite which has a basic menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food that we tried was nice and staff were proactive to offer alternatives for vegan/vegetarian. There are some nice restaurants and shops nearby in close proximity which was handy too. The property was quiet and peaceful at all times which was great for relaxing. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

The villas are a little bit out of the way from central Canggu and while they are easily found for taxis and bikes, you do need to get these to get around, there are no footpaths to walk. Not a huge issue but good to know as you can’t really explore on foot. Also the second bedroom has its own front door and staircase so probably not great for young kids.

The staff were so lovely and helpful and not at all intrusive and made us very welcome on our late arrival and our first trip to Bali. The breakfast supplied was fabulous. (Unfortunately, the cooked items were never very warm, which was a shame as I only ate them when they were, and they were delicious).

Loved the villa we stayed in. Buffet Breakfast and a restaurant for dinner, which was great after a long day of sight seeing. Staff were lovely Room had everything you needed. I would recommend staying here

It was peaceful, clean, and private. The staff were amazing, polite, and accommodating.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We had an issue with our villa when we arrived and they were not able to rectify it within a couple of days, and without issue they moved us to another villa. The aircon worked well too so the temperature was really comfortable. The staff were the best thing about the accommodation. The cooking class was also great! We had a wonderful time!

Unfortunately there were quite a few things which were not ideal. Breakfast, really not great if you don't eat egg. There are no real other options. We had breakfast as a Genius upgrade and this one staff member kept hassling us about having breakfast there, so one day we caved and honestly it's wasn't great. The outdoor shower in our original villa was old, tired and really not great. The shower head sprayed onto the rocks rather than the shower floor and it couldn't be redirected down, which when your a shorter person is not ideal as I had to stand on the loose rocks to be able to wash my hair. Under these rocks was dirt, so defeated the purpose of a shower really. We booked the single room villa and were told on arrival we were in the 2 room villa. When we got there we noticed the pool had algae and mould growing all around the edges and on all the grout. There were lots of missing tiles and overall it was not appealing in any way. We reported this and they came to clean it, however this didn't work. Same thing the next day and so by the 3rd day of not being able to use the pool we asked to move and they accommodated us. The new villa was a family villa. This villa like the other one was tired and in desperate need of a refurbishment but at least the pool wasn't full of algae. This pool still had some missing tiles and the overflow gutters were full of algae and mould. The bathroom was significantly better, but the glass toilet door was just weird. The shower was inside, but still very old and tired. The bed frame was the creakiest frame.ever. any slight movement and it sounded like it was going to break. The mattress was hard and you could feel the springs. The outdoor furniture was in no better condition. The villa was tired and showing the years of wear and tear. It was clear that they were renovating the hotel as some rooms had different doors and there were works going on.

The place was beautiful, great landscaping, beautiful gardens, the pool was much bigger than expected, rooms were very big, staff are all lovely and helpful, great breakfast options and good dinner in the restaurant.

The toilet didn't get fixed properly while we were there.
