"Cosy spacious and well equipped cottage"

10.0

The welcome hamper was so generous and impressive, and the house had been trimmed up for Christmas which was a nice touch. Very spacious and tonnes of storage space in the kitchen and main bedroom. Cosy lounge with open fire and nice fluffy towels in the bathrooms. We all enjoyed our stay and our sons loved it. Would recommend!

Due to the age of the house the upstairs shower lacked pressure and any heat (which was explained in the welcome folder). If more adults were staying this may be an issue sharing the downstairs bathroom for showering. The bath upstairs was clean and useable with ample warm water from the taps though. The only other negative was the road noise, but I'd taken earplugs which helped. There are no issues with traffic noise in the back bedrooms..

"Lovely house and host but upgrades possibly needed to stop traffic noise."

8.0

House was very modern and set back from the road slightly. Kitchen was great and spacious although we did have a few issues with maintenance problems which were sorted immediately by Sian when she was made aware of them. Beds were really comfortable and garden/patio area at back was fully enclosed for the dog.

Location was not brilliant as it is set on the main A169 between Malton and Whitby so traffic noise was a constant issue especially in front rooms. Perhaps installing triple glazing on those windows may help. It would have also been nice to have the use of a DVD player as we do not subscribe to any of the film channels so couldnt make use of Netflix etc. Some minor maintenance problems such as drawer fronts coming off and missing handles on cupboards and a couple of the doors to the lounge and kitchen would not shut properly.
