The New Town Lookout by Calton Living

The location is great, communication with the service team was really good & the apartment is cute & comfortable. There are lots of cafes, restaurants & bars close by & it's an easy walk everywhere we wanted to go

Internet was rubbish & the apartment is on the 4th floor - no problem for us but if you have heavy luggage or dislike stairs you should consider this

Clean, modern, no smell, good location.

Excellent location, with 15-20 walk to all the sites. Tesco and Lidl across the road. Fully stocked kitchen and apartment, perfect for a self contained stay. Very homely and comfortable.

The view of the castle from living room and the 2nd bedroom were beautiful - I watched the sunset on the day of our arrival and it was spectacular! But to have this amazing view does mean that the apartment is on the 4th floor, and there's no lift, so you do need to be fit enough to climb 4 flights of stairs and lug your suitcases. The apartment is cosy, especially the bathroom. There was just enough room for two couples travelling together.

Beds where fairly comfortable, as was the sofas. The view from the moving room window was very good. really enjoyed it and managed to even get a snap of the northern lights from it out over the castle which was so amazing! Location was also fairly good. with a bar directly across the road, Tesco just beside it and the bearded Baker just a minute or less down the road. location was great. not to mention we where close enough to town that we could walk, but also just a minute, 2minute tops walk from the bus stop which had many busses coming through to take you in and put of town.

The bathroom was very narrow and difficult to get into if you are a bigger person at all. it was livable but just a little uncomfortable unfortunately. with this being an older building I don't think much could be done to help this though. Having said that, there are 2 main reasons I personally wouldn't stay at this apartment again and neither is the fault of the property owner, it just is what it is unfortunately. Firstly, the 4 flights of stairs up to the apartment are very challenging, even for relatively fit people. This just really made the accessibility of the apartment difficult for us during our stay. We covered on average around 25,000 steps a day, but these stairs really took a toll on us all. Secondly, I'm not sure of the history of this building, however, there is a spirit in this apartment. I know a lot of people might not believe in these things etc, but 2 of us experienced it during the night, it did make it a little unsettling to sleep but I don't belive the spirit to be overly aggressive or dangerous, there is just a very very strong presence there.
