Wacky Stays - unique farm-stay glamping rentals, FREE animal feeding tours

We had a really great stay at Wacky Stays. We enjoyed the beautiful landscape, the animals, the free animal feeding tour and the nice accommodation. Everything was really clean and we had a nice time in the tipi!

Nothing, it was a great wacky stay.

It was a lovely, quirky, quiet place to stay with friendly staff. It was also in a great location for us. Worked out perfectly for our trip and was excellent value for money. Would happily stay here again.

Unique experience for the kids. We all enjoyed a different type of stay. Cottage was a great size, comfy beds, all facilities we needed. Interactive feeding of the animals was a big hit with my 7yo. Very quiet and peaceful

Little bit out of town which has pros and cons. To get this experience you need to be out of town so catch 22. Definitely need a car

We wanted somewhere to stay in Kaikoura for New Year's Eve. There were motels available, but for only a slightly higher price we had the novelty of staying in a yurt! We really enjoyed the experience. The yurt was comfortable and spacious, and it was interesting to stay in a dwelling that I'd never experienced before. The outdoor kitchen area was really thoughtful - we arrived too late to do any cooking, but we certainly could have cooked a good BBQ meal there. Once we got our kids settled in bed, we sat outside and stargazed until midnight when we could wish each other Happy New Year - it was perfect. Staying a Wacky Stays might not be for everyone, but I certainly appreciated the fun element, and the fact that the owners are trying to do something a little different. Why stay in a boring motel, when you could stay in a yurt, or a train carriage etc. I'd definitely stay there again, if only to try out one of the other unique accomodation options!

It was a short drive from the town, so some people might find it a little isolated - especially if they find it important to be close to shops, bars, restaurants etc. Potential guests should also be prepared for the simple facilities - the bathroom and kitchen are not accessible from the "bedroom" (i.e. the yurt). In some ways, it was more like camping - having to leave the "tent" (yurt) to go to the bathroom. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, but it may not be for everyone.

Animal feeding was a wonderful experience. Staff were warm and friendly.
